The XS-23 Fluid-Dynamic Piston Rifle, often known simply as the XS-23 or the Piston Rifle, was a type of firearm produced on Xia. It was primarily meant to be used by Skakdi of fluid Elements.

Description

The XS-23 was designed for Skakdi of fluid Elements (Water, Air, or Plasma). It allowed them to use their Elemental abilities without the aid of another Skakdi by channeling their Element into the weapon and firing it as a pressurized jet. XS-23 models needed to be tailored to function properly with the Element they were to channel. This resulted in the creation of the Hydraulic, Pneumatic, and Ion-Pneumatic variations of the weapon, which were designed for Water, Air, and Plasma, respectively.

• The XS-23, specifically its ability to allow a Skakdi to use Elemental powers unaided, was inspired by Vezok's Water Harpoon.
