Velika was a Great Being under the guise of an eccentric and inventive Po-Matoran. He later became a Toa of Stone and Emperor in the Astray Alternate Universe.
History[]
Early Life[]
Velika came into existence under unknown circumstances as a Great Being. He was a member of the ruling class of Spherus Magna, renowned for their inventing prowess. Through their dealings with the newfound substance Energized Protodermis as well as their own creations, the Element Lords, the Great Beings eventually realized that their planet was doomed to experience a catastrophic explosion as a result of a civil war. Though they disagreed on how to deal with the impending disaster, they eventually created a giant mechanoid, which would observe extraterrestrial cultures and returning with the information to repair the damage when summoned. During the creation of the robot, the Great Beings created Tren Krom to sustain the universe before the robot was actually powered.
In order to maintain the robot, the Great Beings also created a set of diminutive workers known as Matoran, based off the Agori species, alongside a wide plethora of different life forms to populate the Matoran Universe. During this time, Velika would have had input in the creation of both the Baterra and Marendar, as well as having a hand in the construction of the Red Star and various regions of the Matoran Universe.
Curious about the long-term functionality of the robot, Velika would notably transfer his consciousness into the bodies of one of these Matoran workers, so that he could better observe how Mata Nui would perform his task, leaving his original body in suspended animation and venturing off into the Matoran Universe.
The planet eventually did explode, in what would be known as "the Shattering", and while the majority of the Great Beings sought refuge elsewhere in the universe, Velika would remain within the Great Spirit Robot, watching their nanotechnology evolve into a sophisticated culture of artificial intelligence. He remained in contact with various agents on the remnants of Spherus Magna, who reported noteworthy events to him.
Roughly 100,000 years ago, shortly after the Matoran Universe departed Spherus Magna, Velika was known to have tampered with the programming of all sapient species in the Matoran Universe. As a direct consequence of this, all denizens became self-aware, gaining the capacity to feel emotions and achieving true sentience.
Voya Nui[]
Velika originally took to an itinerant lifestyle, wandering across the majority of the Matoran Universe. During this time, he sought to study the effects his virus had on the wider universe, and would regularly interact with various individuals as a means of experimentation.
Hearing rumors about the state of Karzahni, Velika would travel to the realm to gain an audience with its ruler, under the guise of seeking repairs. Ultimately rebuilt into a weaker form, he would later be shipped to the island of Voya Nui by Karzahni, who felt great shame at his inability to properly repair the Matoran sent to him. Velika's Mask of Biomechanics was taken and replaced with a fitted with a Kanohi Komau, and he was gifted a pair of Power Carvers.
Landing in the Southern Continent, Velika and his fellow Matoran became some of the earliest settlers of Voya Nui, a village on the outskirts of Mount Valmai. Once the Matoran became settled into Voya Nui, Velika began to stalk Mount Valmai, journeying occasionally into the Chamber of Life and carrying out inspections of the island's infrastructure. Around this time he also came to earn the resentment of several Matoran, particularly a Ko-Matoran named Kazi. Velika was also known to have chartered an Energized Protodermis deposit deep within the foundation of the village.
At some point, the Makuta Daxos came to the island, researching myths surrounding the Kanohi Ignika. Curious about the Makuta's goals, Velika volunteered to become his assistant, aiding the Makuta where he could. This partnership lasted for many decades, until Daxos felt he had discovered all he could. As he left Voya Nui, Daxos gifted Velika with a Tablet of Transit, hoping the Matoran would be able to join him back on Destral. Secretly, Velika took a small portion of the Makuta's Antidermis.

1000 years ago, during the Great Cataclysm, Voya Nui broke off from its place in the Southern Continent and ended up drifting along the surface of Aqua Magna. The Turaga of Voya Nui, Jovan, was killed during the process. Robbed of their leader and without the protection of any Toa, the Matoran struggled to survive in their new circumstance. After a brief period of cohabitation between the Matoran of Voya Nui and Mahri Nui, however, the island was once again ravaged by cataclysm, causing Mahri Nui to break off and sink into the ocean.
Roughly 500 years ago, Voya Nui was rocked by an intense storm for the first time since its formation. Without the Southern Continent to shelter the landmass, the Matoran of the settlement were besieged by the elements. Velika was one of several Matoran who sought safety in the Nui Caves before attempting to rebuild.
Race for the Mask of Life[]
Months after the defeat of Makuta Teridax on Mata Nui, six Skakdi would travel to the shores of Voya Nui intent on stealing the Kanohi Ignika. Met initially with skepticism, the six Skakdi would ultimately come to convince the local Matoran of their virtuous intentions, with Velika and a handful of others harboring suspicions.
After reverse-engineering a Zamor Launcher designed by Avak, Velika and a Ta-Matoran named Balta were able to determine that the false-Toa were present upon the island for a darker purpose. Promptly after this revelation, the Skakdi revealed themselves to be a group of ex-Dark Hunters known as the Piraka and used Zamor Launchers to enslave the local Matoran population, with Velika managing to evade capture, alongside Balta, Dalu, Garan, Piruk, and Kazi.

Later, the Great Spirit Robot was damaged heavily as a consequence of the Battle of Bara Magna, leading to the migration of all surviving species of the Matoran Universe, including Velika, to Spherus Magna.
Spherus Magna[]
During his time in the Matoran Universe, Velika concluded that the destruction of the planet was a result of poor leadership by the Great Beings. As such, he developed a plan to seize control of Spherus Magna for himself, believing that his rule would serve the planet better. Seeking to return to his original body, he discovered that it had decayed in his time away.
The first part of his plan involved the murder of powerful Matoran Universe inhabitants, who Velika figured would object to his rule. To enact this, Velika used Lesovikk's Air Sword to kill Karzahni at Iron Canyon and later extracted Tren Krom from his prison before murdering him in Bota Magna. As part of his plan, he killed both in gruesome ways to inspire fear among the population of Spherus Magna.

At some point, Velika was transformed into a Toa along with the other members of the Voya Nui Resistance, though he frequently left the team to fulfill the rest of his plan. Constructing a stronghold deep within the canyons, Velika began to create his empire, seeking to influence the planet. Around this time, he freed the Toa of Shadow Daero from stasis and resurrected Daxos to bolster his ranks. Velika would leave his lieutenants in charge of his empire while he continued his Toa disguise; by manufacturing conflicts, he was able to convince the public of the Toa Voya's heroism.
Further efforts by Velika's Empire included attempts to recreate the Makuta species and repeated failure controlling the Battera robots.

Abilities and Traits[]
Velika was an eccentric being throughout his life, possessing a high degree of curiosity. However, he was enigmatic and impossible to read, even to his colleagues. Further, Velika was highly narcissistic and arrogant, believing only in his own abilities, skills, and intelligence. While residing in the Matoran Universe, he developed a habit of speaking in riddles. Velika believes that he is justified in his actions, no matter the cost. As a Great Being, he holds himself to an alien set of ethics, and struggles to fully connect with his creations.
Having the capabilities of a Po-Matoran, Velika possessed a minuscule amount of control over the Element of Stone, coupled with greater strength and resilience than most other Matoran. As a Toa, Velika later gained the ability to control, create, and absorb stone. His elemental control was so great that he was capable of constructing his stronghold out of stone after a few weeks of being transformed.
Velika possesses the inherent desire to create and experiment. Additionally, he was able to project his astral form at will and inhabit conscious bodies. Moreover, Velika was able to genetically manipulate any creation of his fellow Great Beings, telepathically communicate with a target over a dimensional plain, or make himself appear invisible to any of his creations.
Mask and Tools[]
Following his reconstruction by Karzahni, Velika wielded a pair of Power Carvers, powerful cutting tools capable of chiseling away at most materials. The Power Carvers were often used to assist Velika in his inventing while on Voya Nui. When he transformed into a Toa, the Power Carvers took on a larger form as his Toa Tools.

Briefly, Velika was also known to have wielded Toa Lesovikk's Air Sword, notably using it to impale Karzahni on Spherus Magna.
Originally, Velika wore a powerless Mask of Biomechanics, though this was lost upon his arrival to Voya Nui. For the rest of his life, Velika wore a powerless Kanohi Komau, the Mask of Mind Control. This mask was transformed into a Great version, allowing him to influence the mind of a single target, convincing them to perform a series of basic commands. However, Velika could not allow a subject to violate their moral code and was ineffective against fully robotic organisms and some types of Rahi. The Komau also allowed the user to deliver a powerful Psionic pulse that temporarily left a target in a semi-conscious state.
