Intro[]
So, shall we begin?
Hi, everyone! It's me, Princess Felyn. I do hope all of you are well. Due to personal mental health struggles I have been absent for a while, the bug that is depression is one that keeps on biting and rarely loosens its grip it seems. I have to say that it saddens me a bit to see the wiki less active than I left it these past few weeks. But I do not wish to fault anyone here, everyone has their own lives and struggles and it is just a wiki after all. I am glad to be back, though.
It does feel nice to post a blog again, I should perhaps do these more often. I do like conversing with others and getting to know new people. Now hark, for I have returned from Oberon to bring thee tidings of my ventures.
Shadeborne - Book 1[]
Current State[]
Compared to when I first started uploading it, Shadeborne has changed quite a bit hasn't it. Humble beginnings they were, I was still very much insecure about my writing and style when I posted the very first chapter to this site (I still am, mind you, but a bit less so). But the project was ambitious, and I underestimated it. It has been more than a year since I first created the page and more than 8 months since I uploaded chapter 1. A lot has changed since then, not only my vision for the project, but the quality of the writing I strive to achieve as well as the time I am willing to pour into it day by day. And this thing has become quite big.
As some of you might have seen, I am currently in the process of heavily rewriting the many many pages I had already written for the story. I had written well over 500 pages already and was nowhere near finished. Ideas changed quite often and it seemed best to do heavy rewrites, instead of small revisions here and there, for continuity's sake and my own sanity. I am a writer who likes to have the story, characters and world come to me and flow from me as I write. I do have a loose roadmap in mind, but I don't want to stick to it too heavily. It often causes me to rush to storybeats which then feel very forced. I don't enjoy writing like that at all. I much prefer the story take on a life of its own. And yes, this also has the danger of the story becoming less and less plot heavy or focused. But since I love exploring characters and the world they inhabit, I don't mind it too much.
So far, the chapters that have been released are finished and I don't wish to revise them any further than I already have, so my focus can return to writing the rest finally. Perfectionist that I am, I do tend to come back to chapters quite often. Never being pleased with how they turned out. So I have to learn to lay down the pen and ink so to speak and accept that they are good enough as they are. The Jaller chapter still gives me the most trouble as I have tried to rewrite it fully several times to no avail. But, as I said, it is good enough xD
The Future[]
The current planned chapters to be uploaded soon are the missing Tahu chapter (chapter 5) and the next Teridax chapter (chapter 8). Both are nearly finished, with the Teridax chapter being close to 30 pages long.
The Tahu chapter is an addition that I felt needed to be there. Both for pacing as well as character and propelling his story forward in the direction I want to take it. He has been quite absent from Part I so far and this felt fitting, he is one of the main characters after all.
As for the rest of the story after the Teridax chapter, I cannot yet say how soon you can expect it to be uploaded. I would like to finish Part I soon, but I do not wish to push myself with a tight deadline. This is supposed to be fun, and I have enough stress in my life already. So far, it has been quite a ride to work on, I promise you that.
Thanks[]
And with that I bring an end to this short update blog.
I very much wish to thank all of you who have read Shadeborne so far x)
See ya! x
