Tobduk's Species was a race native to the island Visorak until the Makuta overran it.

History

Shortly after the successful departure of the Great Spirit Robot from Spherus Magna, Mata Nui became somewhat overeager with the creation of new species to serve additional functions, resulting in the plethora of different species that would come to inhabit the Matoran Universe. Tobduk's species was one such creation, based on an island in the Eastern Isles.

Following the Great Disruption, Makuta Chirox assigned to supervise an island in the Western Southern Island Chain by Makuta Miserix, the home of Keetongu's species. Still engrossed in the field of Rahi creation, however, Chirox neglected the island and instead traveled to Tobduk's homeland, where he created the seven breeds of the Visorak species. Envisioning the Visorak army as foot soldiers in service of the Brotherhood, Chirox commanded his creations to ravage one of the settlements. The entire island quickly fell to the venom of the Makuta, with only a handful of survivors. Cementing the Brotherhood's claim to the territory, the island was promptly renamed "Visorak".

One member of the species would eventually be recruited by the Order of Mata Nui and be renamed "Tobduk", a Matoran word for "survivor".

The remaining members of the species dispersed across the Matoran Universe, some joining the Dark Hunters or finding other means to retaliate against the Brotherhood of Makuta.

When the Great Spirit Robot was destroyed, all surviving members of the species escaped to Spherus Magna.

Abilities and Traits

Tobduk's species were generally taller and stronger than average, usually standing anywhere from ten to eleven feet tall. Their most notable attribute was their ability to draw strength from emotional energy, be it within themselves or in those around them.

The species were able to wear and use Kanohi.

Trivia

• It is possible that Tobduk's species was an attempt to create a new type of Toa, capable of wielding emotional energy as opposed to elemental energy.
