Thok was a Skakdi who served as a Dark Hunter and member of the Piraka.
History[]
Early Life[]
Thok originally resided in the island of Zakaz, created by Mata Nui and based upon the genetic coding of several existing sapient species alongside the rest of the Skakdi species. During his earliest days, Thok was charged with recycling and purifying toxins on the island, living a life of relative ease and comfort whilst taking measures to uphold the integrity of the Skakdi civilization.
Roughly 75,000 years ago, in the years after the Great Disruption ravaged the Matoran Universe, Makuta Spiriah came to be appointed as the Makuta of Zakaz. While he was tasked with ensuring the island's continued integrity, Spiriah came to see the potential to re-appropriate the Skakdi inhabitants of Zakaz as foot soldiers. Ignorant to their role in the island's maintenance, the Makuta began experimenting on the species, imbuing the Skakdi with basic Elemental Powers, increased intelligence, and vision-based powers. Augmented by Spiriah's experimentation, Thok gained spellbinder vision capabilities, the ability to manipulate inanimate objects, and access to Ice. Growing increasingly confrontational as a result of the experimentation, however, two rival Skakdi clans notably sparked the Zakaz Civil War, prompting the Brotherhood of Makuta to take action and quarantine the island, with only a handful of Skakdi slipping through the blockade. This experience resulted in Spiriah's exile from the Brotherhood of Makuta.
With the island plunging into anarchy, Thok came to serve one of the leading Skakdi warmongers. In the months after the establishment of the naval blockade, however, Thok notably investigated a damaged Dark Hunter craft that had been shot down by ranged armillary over his territory with Reidak and Avak. Repairing the vessel with components and materials from the shores of Zakaz, the three Skakdi were able to take to the skies and escape the island only to be intercepted by Dark Hunters and taken before The Shadowed One as prisoners.
Dark Hunters[]
Some time after Thok's acceptance into the organization, the Dark Hunters grew in size to become a recognized power faction and a constant menace to Toa on a universal scale, establishing footholds in regions across the universe. Now confident in his claim to power, The Shadowed One became prideful, and sought a base of operations in Metru Nui. 3,500 years ago, Thok was sent to Metru Nui to assassinate Turaga Dume, proving unsuccessful in this mission.
After nearly three centuries of brewing tensions, the Toa/Dark Hunter War finally erupted, a conflict that spanned across Metru Nui. Lasting roughly one year, the confrontation escalated considerably once Toa reinforcements stormed the island and began to outnumber the mercenaries. Thok was known to have participated in the confrontation, where he had a number of clashes with the local Toa.
In the final days of the war, Lariska was known to have attempted to tip the balance of the fight by convincing Toa Mangai Nidhiki to betray the other Toa by luring them into an ambush. However, while the Toa proved cooperative, Lariska's strategy was predicted by Toa Lhikan, who orchestrated an ambush of his own. Lhikan allowed the Dark Hunters to leave unharmed in return for the Makoki Stone, along with the conditions that the Dark Hunters never return, and that they would take the traitor Nidhiki away with them.
Six months later, Thok was among the many Dark Hunters on Odina who witnessed Toa Nidhiki's transformation into his four-legged, insectoid-like form on the coast that would later be named Nidhiki Beach.
By the time of the Great Cataclysm, the total Dark Hunter population had begun to see a drastic increase in size, with members of the organization growing more experienced and with The Shadowed One constantly searching for new potential in his ranks. With the Matoran Universe running on auxiliary power and the Brotherhood of Makuta now in a prime position of power, Thok spent the majority of the Dark Times engaged in espionage operations.
Roughly 250 years ago, Thok was stationed as a sentry at an abandoned Brotherhood of Makuta fortress on an unknown island in the Western Isles, alongside Zaktan and Reidak. During their time stationed on the island, Zaktan notably found a hidden chamber beneath the fortress outlining the details of Makuta Teridax's Grand Plan. Understanding the significance of the findings and their universal ramifications, Zaktan destroyed all records and escaped the island with Reidak and Thok, allowing the fortress to be reclaimed by Brotherhood armies.
Piraka[]
In the months prior to The Reawakening, however, Thok and his Skakdi compatriots grew weary of service to The Shadowed One and splintered off from the Dark Hunters, forging their own path as Piraka. Traveling to the recently-abandoned island of Mata Nui amidst rumors of Makuta Teridax having been killed by Toa, the six Piraka descended into the tunnels of the Mangaia. Eventually finding the remains of the Makuta's armor, Reidak attempted to loot the Kanohi Kraahkan only to receive a barrage of Shadow bolts that compelled him to hurl the Mask of Shadows into the ocean of Aqua Magna. Further investigation would reveal the Spear of Fusion, which Hakann maliciously tested on Vezok, leading to the splitting of his psyche in two and the formation of Vezon. Subconsciously influenced by the Antidermis form of Teridax, the seven Skakdi soon became unwitting pawns in the Makuta's grand scheme. Chased from the lair by Mana Ko, the Piraka were able to hijack the Toa Canisters that once belonged to the Toa Mata and headed for Voya Nui, the island upon which the Kanohi Ignika and object of Teridax's desire was rumored to be found.
Arriving on Voya Nui, Thok and his fellow Piraka assumed the mantle of Toa on a quest to save the local Matoran. Met initially with skepticism, the Piraka set the Matoran to work digging lava channels through which Mount Valmai could be drained. Despite numerous instances of unusual behavior, the six false-Toa would ultimately come to convince the larger Matoran community of their virtuous intentions.
After Balta and Velika were able to reverse-engineer a Zamor Launcher designed by Avak, the Matoran were eventually able to determine that the Piraka were present upon the island for a darker purpose. Promptly after this revelation, however, Thok and his cohorts revealed themselves to be a group of ex-Dark Hunters and used Zamor Launchers to enslave the local Matoran population, with Balta, Dalu, Garan, Velika, Piruk, and Kazi managing to evade capture.
