The Lhikan, although he shares his name with Toa Lhikan, is a very different being. The Lhikan is an Order of Mata Nui operative who remained hidden on the island of Mata-Nui up to the point that the Makuta began inhabiting the Core. The Lhikan resided in a secluded region of Le-Wahi where no Matoran or even Toa dared venture due to how eerie this region of the forest appeared. He was ordered by the Order member, Jerbraz, not to interfere with anything on the island until the Toa Mata had proven themselves.

History with the Order

In the before time, prior to the Toa Mata landing on the island of Mata-Nui from Metru-Nui, the Lhikan was brought from Metru-Nui to the island by Jerbraz as a safeguard for in case the Toa failed to find the Toa of Light. Using his mastery over light, the Lhikan absorbed the light from an area of the forested Le-Wahi. Jerbraz, being invisible, would not be noticed by the Makuta or villagers; the Lhikan, depleting his armor of light by absorbing it, would only be seen as a terror in the woods. Unbeknownst to the Lhikan, he had been serving the Order for some time, even in the city of Metru-Nui, where he warned Toa Lhikan of the trouble in the city, giving him the Toa Stones, and later told the Toa of the significance of his name. Originally, the Lhikan only knew that he was helping to protect peace and to fight evil. To test the Lhikan's character, Jerbraz and the Order's spy in the Dark Hunters, Ancient, set up a test to see if he would join an evil organization simply to defeat his enemies. Upon passing the test, he was admitted into the Order and sent to bring Toa Krakua to Axonn, being the mysterious figure that is of Botar's species that took over for the deceased Order member.

• The Lhikan was created to fill the same role as Dortan, as well as to create a character to do other covert Order missions.
• The Lhikan's name, in an ancient, near-lost language, meant "Death comes to evil," which is sometimes translated as "Light conquers"
