The Frozen City is an ancient settlement lying within Okoto's Region of Ice.
History[]
Records of its history (and its existence, for that matter) are rather scarce. At some point in time, an unknown civilization settled within a series of caverns within the Region of Ice. Scraps of scrolls and tablets claim that the people eventually discovered a lake of some form. The body of liquid was a glowing silver, one that would reshape or destroy anything it touched. Fascinated by this substance, the tribe began to harvest it for experimentation. It was said that the liquid allowed the people to remold the City, carving intricate designs and forging magical relics.
Legends also claim that the lake housed an avatar, who would occasionally appear to communicate with the tribe. One day, the people simply vanished. All that remained was the city and their belongings. While many do not know how this came to be, a few have their suspicions. Some believe that the avatar of the argent lake may have a hand in their disappearance. Others that they abandoned the City to leave for parts unknown. To this day, many still debate over its desertion.
Around a few years after the defeat of the Skull Raiders, a former Protector named Duran came across the ruins. He discovered the glowing pound at the bottom levels, and he too developed an obsession with it. He would move into the ruins thereafter, scavenging them for supplies. He discovered coffins of the civilization during his time, and experimented on them in the hopes of reviving his lost love, Hura. While he eventually did succeed in reanimating one of the bodies, the undead beast betrayed him by tossing him into the silver lake. The abomination left the City afterwards, with his mutated master departing not long after.
To this day, no one has dared to set foot on it.
Landscape[]
The Frozen City lies within a series of underground caverns, carved from its very walls and ceiling. At the bottom level lies a silver lake, glowing with power. Beyond that, there is not much else to tell.
Wolves and bats usually claim the caves beyond the City limits, though a few Skull Spiders lurk about as well.
