The Dark Trilogy are three stories written by Invader39 to expand the under-nourished second generation of BIONICLE. The first two installments are based on the 2015 and 2016 stories, while the third is original content as the line was ended before it could make it to the final year.

The trilogy features the Elemental Toa as its primary protagonists, with Ekimu the Mask Maker as their guide and the Protectors as supporting characters. The primary antagonist is Ekimu's brother, Makuta the Mask Hoarder, who sends his minions after the peoples of Okoto.

Books[]

  • Pushing Back the Dark - The first book expands on the 2015 Online Animations, adding more depth and character to the story, while also creating a darker tone for the series.
  • Lost in the Dark - The second book is based on The Journey to One, and expands and changes several aspects of the story. As with the last installment it expands on the characters and locations and storyline.
  • Light in the Dark - The third and final book in the series. It focuses on tying up the G2 storyline and any loose ends. The story content is almost entirely original, as the BIONICLE line was canceled before the last year could be released.
