Terkla is a Versuvian Glider Owl, and the pet and constant companion of the Mersion scientist Mersery.
History[]
Originally a wild Glider Owl, Terkla lived in a nest near the top of Mount Cardon on Versuva. Eventually, she was attacked by a larger predator, which injured her and left her unable to fly. She was eventually discovered by two Mersion scholars, Mersery and Herkain, who took her back to their home city of Keadrah, where they helped the Owl heal from its injuries. By the time she had fully recovered, the two had gained her trust, and effectively tamed her, resulting in Mersery deciding to adopt her. The two then settled on the name of "Terkla."
Having taken her in for a Rahi study project they were conducting at the Great Academy, Mersery and Herkain analyzed Terkla's habits and behaviour, and took her in as their specimen when giving their presentations on their chosen Rahi. For their work, the two received full marks, and decided to keep Terkla.
Terkla would remain in Mersety's care during and after the time of the Xevthian Empire, and remained by his side when he joined the Hand of Artakha, and eventually, the Order of Mata Nui. Following his inception, Terkla would remain mostly on the Order's base of Daxia, though her talents as a tracker and messenger were put to use by the Order's leader, Toa Helryx. When Teridax took over the Matoran Universe and levelled Daxia, Mersery took Terkla with him as he fled the island, before she could be killed.
She remained with him during his travels around the universe during his fights against Teridax, and migrated with him onto Spherus Magna when the Matoran Universe was damaged beyond repair following Teridax's death by the hands of Mata Nui.
Abilities and Traits[]
An obedient and remarkably friendly Rahi, Terkla is known for her curiosity and friendliness towards others, characteristics reflected by her owner. She is capable of understanding basic commands in both Matoran and Versuvian. She is deeply devoted to her master, and shares a strong bond and connection with Mersery.
Like others of her breed, Terkla is nocturnal and extremely resistant to cold weather, in addition to being a capable flyer, despite her preference to glide across the skies. Possessing razor-sharp claws and one fairly sharp horn, Terkla mainly uses these in retrieving food or defending herself from hostile predators.
Glider Owls can differ in color; known variations include black and red. In addition all Owls are colored with traces of silver.
