Abc8920 is an awesome writer. No question about that.

The concept of the story is not by any means a new one: A resistance fighting against a vast, terrible empire. That plot was old when George Lucas made Star Wars. But Abc8920 tells it with vivid descriptions of the epic first clashes, and while some of the earlier chapters are a little bit sloppy, the rest of the story makes up for that by far.

To go into more detail: The chapters are a colorful, exciting account of the beginning of the rebellion, told in BIONICLE's action-heavy, complex way. The story isn't terribly complex, and it doesn't make many references to the earlier Deserts of Death saga or even most of the BIONICLE storyline at all, meaning even readers unacquainted with either of them can read this without much confusion on their part. And they're well-rewarded for doing so. The plot is fresh, the characters engaging (especially Teridax, please don't kill him off) and it describes the action well.

There aren't many cons about the story that I can name, except that, again, some of the earlier chapters are a bit messier than the newer ones, but if you think about it, that's not really a con at all.

Overall rating: B+
