The Emirate of Takiw Nui (or simply known as Takiw Nui) was a region of the Northern Continent of the Matoran Universe and the original homeland the Alpha Beings. During the Reign of Shadows, it received the nickname The Great Refuge.
History[]
Takiw Nui, a region situated in the Northern Continent of the Matoran Universe, was brought into existence by the Great Beings. Initially, it was a barren and desolate area inhabited by only a few Rahi species. However, the Alpha Beings, particularly Yufrik, utilized advanced environmental technology to enhance the conditions of the land, making it habitable.
Following the construction of the Takiw Nui Citadel, the Alpha Beings assumed control over the indigenous Matoran population and took on the responsibility of safeguarding them. The region's Emir, Mersny, believed it necessary to have Toa protectors and extended invitations to numerous Toa, who were subsequently recruited into the Toa Takiw army.
Vavakx, one of the Alpha Beings, eventually ousted Mersny and assumed leadership over Takiw Nui and its inhabitants. Makuta Zakkond, after sending an application and a unique mask as a gift to Vavakx, was appointed as the guardian Makuta of Takiw Nui. However, when the Brotherhood of Makuta rebelled against the universe, Zakkond was stripped of his position and expelled from the region.
Takiw Nui War[]
Several years later, the Brotherhood of Makuta launched an invasion, resulting in the confinement of Vavakx while the Toa Takiw engaged in battle against the enemy forces. The war between the Takiw Nui forces and the Brotherhood of Makuta army raged on for five years.
In the climactic culmination of the war, Toa Guhjii, one of Vavakx's bodyguards, betrayed Takiw Nui and collaborated with the leader of the enemy forces, Nutrex. In response to this betrayal, Deriahk rallied the entire Takiw Nui forces for a massive counterattack, ultimately emerging victorious.
Reign of Shadows[]
When Makuta Teridax usurped control of the Matoran Universe, Vavakx employed the power of his Mask of Space to create a dimensional barrier around Takiw Nui, isolating the region from the rest of the universe and shielding it from the influence of the Makuta.
During this period, Vavakx dispatched several agents outside the dimensional barrier to assist the rebels of the Reign of Shadows and to gather survivors. Takiw Nui became known as "The Great Refuge," serving as a sanctuary for those seeking shelter from the reign of Teridax.
Due to the protective measures in place, Takiw Nui suffered minimal damage following Teridax's demise. This allowed the population of the region to migrate to Spherus Magna in an organized manner, taking numerous artifacts with them as they embarked on a new chapter.

Takiw Nui, located in a desert region of the Northern Continent within the Matoran Universe, was renowned for its magnificent cities and intricate aqueduct system that efficiently distributed water to all inhabited areas.
Kiw-Koro[]
Kiw-Koro was the largest and most populous Matoran village in Takiw Nui. Unfortunately, during the Takiw Nui War, several Matoran from this village lost their lives in the conflict.
Takiw Nui Citadel[]
The Takiw Nui Citadel served as the official settlement and seat of power for the Alpha Beings and their agents. It housed the Emir of Takiw Nui within the prominent Takiw Nui Tower. Alongside the tower, the citadel encompassed various facilities and structures, including laboratories, training centers, and hospitals.
Society[]
The inhabitants of Takiw Nui boasted advanced technological prowess, surpassing most other regions in the Matoran Universe, with the exception of Metru Nui and Artakha. They particularly excelled in the fields of medicine and sanitation, enabling them to treat conditions that would have been considered untreatable elsewhere. Notably, individuals like Deriahk, a Skakdi, underwent extensive body reconstructions in Takiw Nui, showcasing the region's expertise in advanced medical procedures.

The Alpha Beings had complete control in Takiw Nui and were in charge of the protection of its population. The ruler received the title of Emir.

Many species of Matoran lived in Takiw Nui.
Toa[]
All permanent Toa residents in Takiw Nui were members of the Toa Takiw. However, only a Takiw Nui native, Guhjii, was part of the Toa Takiw.
Rahi[]
There were few Rahi species in Takiw Nui because of the region's difficult conditions and arid climate.
