Subjugator (classified as KIM-369 by the Kakkan Containment Organization) was a weapon formerly used by Makuta Hysterix.

History

Subjugator was forged by an unknown weaponsmith for Hysterix (then known as Pretadix) when the Makuta abandoned his previous weapon. Although the weapon had its power at this time, Pretadix was unaware of this fact, as a group of Makuta had convinced the weapon's creator not to tell him about its power. Pretadix did not discover its power until after he had been betrayed by the Brotherhood of Makuta. In order to keep the Makuta under his control, his comrade and fellow founder of the Wraith Syndicate, Tetradon, convinced him that the power was unnecessary.

In a fight with Tetradon on Powai Nui, Subjugator was severed in two at the handle. Pretadix, now going under the name Hysterix, abandoned the weapon, as he considered it a reminder of the time he spent brainwashed by Tetradon. It remained untouched until, due to the actions of Maroona, it was forcibly transported into the Shrine of Salvation's pocket dimension along with the Makuta's body, an event that reconnected its halves back together.

After reclaiming his body during the Leskya Nuian colonization of Powai Nui, Hysterix was reunited with his weapon and finally began to use the scythe's power, no longer associating it with Tetradon. Unfortunately for him, he soon lost the weapon during a battle. It was later found by Tura and given to the Kakkan Containment Organization, who designated it KIM-369.

Description

Subjugator was a long, slim scythe, easily taller than most Matoran. It was composed of Protosteel, making it nigh-indestructible. It could channel Hysterix's mental abilities such that he could manipulate the emotions of others and make them do his bidding, effectively brainwashing them for short amounts of time.

Example Usage

In The Feral Plains/Volume VII, Hysterix used Subjugator to brainwash Vandir and several Leskya Nuian Matoran, inciting them to ruthlessly attack members of the Toa Powai.

• Originally, the weapon was named the Berserker Scythe and retained this name for well over a year until Chondrya decided that she disliked the name and renamed it. The scythe was also previously described as turning its victims into animalistic drones who Hysterix would lead, but this ability was also retconned and replaced with it simply acting as a conduit for the Makuta's mental abilities to produce a similar effect.
