Sol is a planetary body in the Magna Star System. A habitable sun, it is the homeworld of the Toa of Light, and, by distance, the sister planet of Inferna.
History[]
The planet was originally only ruled by simple tribes, the governments of which depended on the area. Later, however, during Lord Ariki's conquest, the planet became part of the Union of Planetary Bodies.
Once the UPB took control, a parliamentary sub-government was established. The primary leader of the planet, Queen Luminaria, serveed as the bishop to Lord Ariki’s kinghood. Beside Luminaria, there is saw a six-seated council, composed entirely of Matoran. These Matoran, with delegates representing the six regions of the planet, were responsible for all the parliamentary decisions, which typically related to other planets. Meanwhile Toa Luminaria was merely responsible for the acts of her citizens. Despite the lack of an active role, Luminaria proceed to rule her people with charisma, effectively making the people believe that their world was not a colony.
Landscape[]
Being a sun, it is a world that is almost always in an aura of bright, near blinding light. This makes the planet completely uninhabitable for creatures of Shadow. As such, is considering to be the last line of defense against Shadow Beasts. The planet itself, much like Inferna, can reach extremely high temperatures, so the inhabitants of the planet are adapted to the surroundings.
The planet has a systematic setting, in which it has its own system of daylight, and a small period of “nighttime” in which the planet dims considerably. This happens approximately every 28 rotations, making this one Solaric day. For satellites, depending on the orbit and rotation speed, this is a period of total eclipse, unless the planet has a way of producing its one light.
The satellite Inferna, though often considered to be its own planet, is the moon of Sol. Its orbit causes tides within its hydrogen oceans, which, along with the light itself, is used as an energy source on the planet.

- Luminaria, Queen.
- Solestis, formerly.
- Flare phoenixes, a bird species also found on Inferna.
- Light bats, a flying species that feeds on liquid hydrogen.
Trivia[]
- Mercatorprojection chose to make the Toa of Light homeworld a sun due to the fact that they wouldn’t fit on any of the other planets. It was also because, in the G1 storyline, Toa of Light proceed to be the most important Toa.
