Selavians were a species inhabiting the Southeastern corner of the Southern Continent.
Biography[]
Shortly after the successful departure of the Great Spirit Robot from Spherus Magna, Mata Nui became somewhat overeager with the creation of new species to serve additional functions, resulting in the plethora of different species that would come to inhabit the Matoran Universe. The Selavian species was one such creation.
Selavians were established to regulate and maintain even distribution of energy flowing from Metru Nui. Energy impulses sent from Metru Nui spread throughout the rest of the universe, passing through several conduits near the north of the Northern Continent. Connected to these are several large buildings that regulate the energy flow. Selavians primarily monitor these energy flows. Occasionally, in the event of a power surge due to a malfunction in the Great Spirit Robot, the Selavians acted as surge protectors. When alerted by their equipment about a looming power surge, they quickly cut off the conduits until the surge is weathered.
Shortly after Velika's tampering with the sapient species of the Matoran Universe, the Selavians were more reluctant to perform their services freely. When the League of Six Kingdoms rose to power under the Selavian, Pridak, the Selavian population was often used by that organization to choke off power from sections of the universe more difficult to conquer. League abuse of the Selavian duties was a major factor prompting the Makuta to crush the League.
Following the decline of the League of Six Kingdoms, many Selavians continued holding various parts of the universe at ransom with their power (or lack thereof). Makuta Miserix sent one of his lieutenants, Makuta Krika in to quell the rebellion. The Selavian troublemakers were quickly put down and Miserix appointed Krika the Makuta of the northern section of the Northern Continent.
The Selavians have since abandoned the Great Spirit Robot after it was rendered uninhabitable.
Abilities and Traits[]
Selavians are very talented electrical engineers and the most apt (aside from Vo-Matoran) to regulate the electrical systems of the Great Spirit Robot. Selavians can withstand large amounts of electricity flowing through their bodies for up to four minutes.

- The name Selavian is based on the term Selakhs, which is the name for Pridak’s race in Klaanon. Klaanon is the product of the Finnish Bionicle community Bio-Klaani.
