Saetta is a Toa of Lightning residing in the Astray Alternate Universe. She serves as the navigator for the Toa Vandern.
History[]
Early Life[]
Similarly to most other Matoran, Saetta began her life on Spherus Magna, where she helped in construction of the Matoran Universe. Following the completion of her task, Saetta was placed in the Southern Continent, along with other Matoran. Shortly after the launch of the Great Spirit Robot, the Vo-Matoran gained true sentience due to Velika’s tampering with the Matoran Universe.
Originally, Saetta lived in a small settlement along the northeast coastline, where she was close friends with a Ga-Matoran named Naho. During this time, she worked as a navigator, spending her free time swimming in the ocean. Though Saetta was initially afraid of the water, she slowly gained an appreciation for the sea and developed an improved lung capacity as a result.
At some point, a local Toa chose to give up their power, transforming several villagers, including Naho, into Toa. With such a historic event, Saetta was chosen as the village's first Chronicler.
Saetta found herself dissatisfied with her new occupation, finding it boring and time-consuming. In addition, the sudden rift between her and Naho worsened things, sparking jealousy in the Vo-Matoran. The two friends would often argue; with Saetta wishing to shirk their responsibilities, and Naho focused on her duty. Around this time, the city of Metru Nui summoned errant Toa, desperate for help in dispatching the formidable Kanohi Dragon. Naho, feeling that it was her destiny, answered the summons, and left her home. Saetta believed that she had contributed to Naho's departure, and began taking a more mature attitude to her work.
Hunted[]
Years later, the Toa Mangai would be assassinated by the Dark Hunters, under the orders of Makuta Teridax. However, before her death, Naho would write letters detailing her suspicions of Teridax to her former friends. Upon discovering these letters, Teridax hired two Dark Hunters to find and eliminate the Matoran village. The Hunters succeeded in finding the Matoran and ransacked the village; though Saetta was capable of evading capture by hiding underwater. Unfortunately, the attack resulted in the fracturing of her Kanohi Faxon, leaving the Matoran unconscious.
Days later, the wandering Toa of Magnetism Ohri stumbled upon the village. Searching for survivors, he managed to find Saetta, giving her a spare Kanohi to temporarily wear. Ohri served as the Matoran's protector for a time, as the two attempted to escape from the Hunters' grasp. Ultimately, a climatic battle broke out, resulting in the crippling of both Hunters and Ohri, who was injured badly in the fight. Inseparable after the events, the duo settled in a nearby village, where Ohri gave up his power, becoming a Turaga.
Determined not to be powerless again, Saetta began training in hand-to-hand combat, slowly developing a mastery of martial combat.

Later, the Great Spirit Robot was damaged heavily as a consequence of the Battle of Bara Magna, leading to the migration of all surviving species of the Matoran Universe, including Saetta, to Spherus Magna.
Spherus Magna[]
Upon exiting the Matoran Universe, Saetta aided in the construction of Atero Nui, choosing to live in the megacity's water district. Here, she once again felt aimless, and wished to explore her new locale; these attempts were consistently stopped by local Toa and Glatorian. Ohri, meanwhile, requested Atero Nui's leaders to allow him to explore the new lands. While Ohri's request was reluctantly granted, he chose not to bring Saetta, unwilling to endanger her once again. Upset at being considered little more than helpless, Saetta would argue frequently with Ohri in the days following.
On the day of the expedition, Saetta sneaked onboard, seeking to leave the walls of Atero Nui. She would be quickly discovered when a wild Rahi attacked the caravan, though was able to protect herself. Successfully arguing with other travelers, Saetta was allowed to remain with the group, but was placed on a probationary period. During the expedition's early travels, she developed a friendship with Auria, a Ce-Matoran astronomer, and Raeys, a Ta-Matoran guard.
The expedition would face several more trials, such as repeated, aggressive Rahi attacks; infighting amongst the various factions; and the sudden disappearance of two guides. After several weeks, the explorers arrived at the White Quartz Mountains, where the expedition had to briefly split up in search of progress. Saetta was paired up with Ohri, Raeys, Jaiiko, Arohni, Delgan, and Kavero. Shortly afterwards, the group was attacked by multiple Vorox. Fleeing deeper into the mountains for safety, they discovered a deceased Toa and six Toa Stones hidden within a small cave. Upon touching one of the stones, Saetta was transformed into a Toa, alongside with her fellow Matoran.
Formation of the Vandern[]
Upon their transformation, the group was quickly discovered by the Vorox, and were forced to fight for survival. During this battle, Saetta managed to fight off a few Vorox, but became quickly overwhelmed due to her relative inexperience with combat. Jaiiko, using his elemental control over Ice, caused an avalanche, decisively ending the battle. Lacking direction, the rookie Toa ran deeper into the wilderness, hoping to lead the remaining Vorox away from the rest of the expedition. At this time, the group was formerly dubbed as the Toa Vandern by Ohri.
As the Vandern wandered across Spherus Magna, they attempted to make sense of their new abilities. Saetta used her navigational skills to direct the team, and attempted to keep the group from infighting. She quickly unlocked her elemental abilities, compared to the rest of her teammates. However, the Vandern frequently clashed with one another; Raeys, inexperienced as a leader, failed to maintain the group's cohesion. These issues came to a head where, while traveling through Bota Magna, Kavero's arrogant behavior put the team in danger. Following this, the group abandoned him and ultimately split apart.
The Vandern would then individually stumble upon a small village hidden in the jungle, where the pirate Vakavus and his crew stayed. During this time, the fledgling Toa would be trained in their abilities.
Slowly gaining more familiarity with their abilities, the Vandern were then attacked by members of Velika's Empire, though they managed to defeat the Vorox through working together as a team. At this time, the Toa learned of their true destiny: to defeat the unknown Great Being and stop his conquest. With this information, the group decided to travel back to Atero Nui, planning to contact the Spherus Magna Council for aid and direction.

Abilities and Traits[]
Saetta is a compassionate, upbeat, and joyful Toa, who always tries to maintain a positive outlook. Craving freedom above all else, Saetta has developed an adventurous spirit, wishing to see and chart the rest of the world. Further, she has a notable stubborn streak, incapable of being talked out of an action she has set her mind on. In the past, Saetta has held an irresponsible attitude in regards to her duties, more interested in enjoying life; these qualities have lessened with time and trauma, though her underlying zest remains.
As a Vo-Matoran, Saetta had inactive control over the Element of Lightning, along with an innate resistance to electrical energy. When she became a Toa, she gained full access to these powers, allowing her to create, manipulate, and absorb electricity. Saetta is particularly gifted with her elemental abilities and is capable of sensing changes in weather.
During her time on the Southern Continent, Saetta has also become a proficient swimmer, and possesses an abnormally high lung capacity for her element.
Mask and Tools[]
Originally, Saetta wore a powerless Faxon, though it was destroyed. She currently wears an unknown Great Kanohi.
While traveling with the expedition, she carried a simple protosteel staff. The staff was broken in two during the Vorox attack and was then transformed into the Weather Staff, a simple polearm that could channel Saetta's innate elemental powers. Saetta utilized her Toa Tool as a quarterstaff, with the Toa often mixing in quick strikes from her body. She would later obtain the Shock Gauntlets, which could store excess electricity for Saetta to attack with. With the Shock Gauntlets, Saetta could reinforce her bare-handed attacks, preforming a stunning strike.
