Ruru is one of the First Matoran. He is a miner and a worker that never rests.

Biography

Long ago, Mata Nui created Ruru along with the other First Matoran and placed him on Dromii to live there. However, Dromii started to sink and Mata Nui made Hangi a Toa to rescue them to Manuin. Ruru was one of the Matoran to be evacuated. He too, experienced the storm which was caused by the creation of Manuin, with the others. Finally they found Manuin where they found the Canyon of the Great Spirit and Hangi became a Turaga.

Hangi made Ruru the miner of the land and he quickly turned out to be a strong, motivated worker that never rested. When Ilona came to him and asked if she could be a miner too, Ruru trained her into the job and became the headminer. Later, also Sahtara joined and became one of Ruru's best friends.

During the dangers made by Makaatu on the village, Ruru tried his best to defend his home, using his remarkable strength and bravery. When Makaatu made his final strike and captured the Matoran in Matoran Pods, Ruru was one of them. He was then taken away.

His pod was rescued by the First Toa and he was awakened with the rest in the Hangi Canyon. He had forgotten everything of the past, which made the new Turaga (previously the First Toa) upset. Ruru was made the miner again, with Sahtara and together they continued mining in the Hangi Canyon.

When the great flood came, Ruru helped evacuate the other Matoran into the local shopping center with the others and went there himself. After the flood, Mata Nui gave the Matoran eleven assignments. Ruru's job during this time was to help construct the great boat they would use to leave Manuin. As the other Matoran, Ruru too witnessed the rising of Dromii.

Currently Ruru works in Dromii with Sahtara, mining everyday for some valuable minerals and rock.

Abilities and Traits

Ruru is social and very brave, not to mention strong. He felt lonely in his job before, but since Sahtara became a miner too, he has become happier and best friends with Sahtara. Ruru isn't concerned about his own safety ever, he puts other Matoran's lives ahead of his,being ready to assist them in dangerous situations even if it would mean his death. He's also loyal and does anything the Turaga say. Ruru is also very friendly.

Ruru carries a pickaxe which he uses in mining.

• Ruru inspired Mata Nui to name the Mask of Nightvision after his name, in the Matoran Universe.
