ROAD

The Kanohi Rode is the Mask of Truth, a Kanohi that allows the user to see through illusions and perception filters, as well as revealing whether or not a target was being knowingly deceitful.

The Great Rode also enabled the bearer to see Volitak or Huna wearers, as well as interact with Iden users while in astral form.

History[]

The Kanohi Rode traces its origins back to later waves of mask-making discovered in the centuries after the Awakening. With both illusion-based capabilities and deceitful social ambitions becoming more widespread across the Matoran Universe during this period, an unclear number of Kanohi Rode were crafted by ambitious Mask Makers on Nynrah and distributed into wider circulation.

At this point in the history of the Matoran Universe, the Rode became heavily associated with Fe-Matoran, who became increasingly skeptical of duplicitous business partners.

A Great Rode was known to have been worn by an Arbiter warlord named Axonn during the early history of the Matoran Universe, who notably used the mask to his advantage as a warrior before retiring into the field of espionage.

Over the 100,000 year span of the Matoran Universe's functionality, the Rode became a particularly wide-spread Kanohi, proving timelessly popular as a means to counteract thieves such as the Dark Hunters. Favored in particular by Toa, the Rode gained connotations of righteousness and clarity.

In Metru Nui, a Rode could crafted with relative ease using Regeneration, Weaken and Enlarge Kanoka disks. Given the ease with which Rode could be created, however, the Kanohi became somewhat common in wider Matoran society.

A Toa Mangai of Ice was known to have worn a Kanohi Rode during his time defending Metri Nui, using the Kanohi to detect Nidhiki when he utilized his Volitak as well as hidden combatants during the Toa/Dark Hunter War.
