Reikan is a Toa of Gravity residing in the Astray Alternate Universe. He serves as the leader of the second Toa Vandern.
History[]
Early Life[]
Similarly to most other Matoran, Reikan began his life on Spherus Magna, where he helped in construction of the Matoran Universe. Following the completion of his task, Reikan was placed on an unknown island nearby the Southern Continent, along with a number of other Matoran. Shortly after the launch of the Great Spirit Robot, Reikan gained true sentience due to Velika’s tampering with the Matoran Universe. Although he continued his original task, the Ba-Matoran was granted emotions and became self-aware.
Originally, Reikan and his fellow Ba-Matoran were tasked with maintaining the Great Spirit Robot’s gravitational systems. Despite his diligence, the Matoran would often find himself unsatisfied with his work, musing that he was destined for greater things. With the island notably lacking any Toa presence, Reikan trained himself, hoping that one day he would be transformed.
During the expansion of the League of Six Kingdoms 80,000 years ago, the Southern Continent was conquered by the warlord Mantax. His army marched through the region and established several strongholds, including Reikan's home island. Although the conquest did not greatly impact the Ba-Matoran’s life, he still harbored feelings of resentment towards the League. Unwilling to accept the Barraki’s rule, Reikan would convince his fellow villagers to fight back against the warlords. Following the downfall of the regime, Reikan’s island would gain recognition for their disruptive efforts along with a small number of Toa.
Increasingly frustrated with his position, and with greater aspirations in the wake of the Metru Nui Civil War, Reikan left his home. Settling near a coastal port in the Southern Continent, the Ba-Matoran chose to become a sailor, expecting that his natural endurance would assist him.

Roughly 36,000 years ago, Reikan's accomplishments were noticed by a veteran Toa of Water. This Toa chose to bestow his Toa Power upon the Ba-Matoran, seeing him as a worthy successor. Although initially hesitant, the Matoran accepted the responsibility and was transformed into a Toa.
Life as a Toa[]
With no Toa Team or mentor for support, Reikan's training was largely a personal endeavor. Wandering across the twin continents, the Toa of Gravity primarily honed his skills through fending off wild Rahi, developing an aggressive fighting style as a result.
For a brief period of time, Reikan guarded a trading ship stationed in Stelt; while there, he befriended the Toa of Plasma Luxerii.

7,000 years ago, Reikan guarded the Makoki Stone, which was held in a large fortress near the Southern Continent. The Toa Fortress was later attacked by a large group of Frostelus, who began indiscriminately killing Toa. Reikan was capable of escaping the fortress, but could not save his fellow Toa. This incident would send Reikan into a depressive period spanning several years, where he avoided interacting with others and isolated himself to the wild.
Following a chance encounter with Luxerii, the two Toa traveled to Galria. There, the duo furthered their own training, as well as assisting rookie Toa. 3000 years ago, Toa Mangai Naho traveled across the Silver Sea in search of reinforcements. Landing on Galria, the Toa of Water entreated the local Turaga for aid in repelling the Dark Hunters in Metru Nui. Though hesitant, the Turaga was ultimately persuaded, sending one hundred Toa to assist the war effort.
Volunteering himself, Reikan was led back to Metru Nui, helping to fend off the invading Dark Hunters. Assisting the Mangai’s leader, Lhikan, in developing offensive strategies, the Toa were able to repel the Dark Hunters, ultimately winning the war.

Reign of Shadows[]
During Makuta Teridax's takeover of the Matoran Universe, Reikan joined a small resistance group alongside his Galrian allies. Searching for a way to defeat the Makuta; the Toa of Gravity was known to study the Ancient Shrine beneath the island. As Teridax arrived on Bara Magna, Reikan was among a group of Toa who briefly exited the Great Spirit Robot, finding themselves on the planet’s surface. He then joined the battle, aiding the allies of Mata Nui as they fought Makuta's forces.
Later, the Great Spirit Robot was damaged heavily as a consequence of the Battle of Bara Magna. The inhabitants of the Matoran Universe, including Reikan, emigrated to Spherus Magna.
Spherus Magna[]
Upon exiting the Matoran Universe, Reikan aided in the construction of Atero Nui. Well-known for his accomplishments, the Toa was asked to guard the Spherus Magna Council, particularly Takanuva. While serving his role, Reikan became increasingly disgruntled towards the Council, feeling that the group rarely agreed and failed to represent the people of Atero Nui.

Abilities and Traits[]
Confident and serious, Reikan is an intense individual and will stop at nothing to achieve his goals. A veteran Toa and model hero, he sets the standard that many rookie Toa hold themselves to. Despite his triumphs, the Toa is not without his flaws. A lone wolf for most of his life, Reikan struggles with vulnerability or asking for help. Frequently unhappy with his circumstances, he has a difficult time appreciating life and is prone to depressive periods.
As a Ba-Matoran, Reikan had inactive control over the Element of Gravity and possessed a natural endurance and heightened pain threshold. When he became a Toa, he gained full access to these powers, allowing him to create, manipulate, and control the intensity of gravitational forces. Reikan was capable of moving faraway objects; forcing items to gravitate toward each other; generating gravity wells; or nullifying gravity fields.
Mask and Tools[]
Reikan wore a Kanohi Sanok for most of his life. When he became a Toa, the mask granted him the ability to accurately hit almost any target that he aimed at. Reikan frequently used his Kanohi in conjunction with his elemental powers, effectively achieving a form of telekinesis. He had also collected three other great Kanohi, though did not regularly utilize them.
Reikan’s primary Toa Tool was the Vacuum Axe, a heavy weapon that could channel his elemental powers. The Toa commonly paired his weapon with a shield, balancing out an aggressive fighting style. During a battle with Vorox, the Void Axe was destroyed. Reikan went without a Toa Tool for a short period of time, eventually acquiring the Void Claymore, a hefty greatsword. He would frequently throw his weapons towards an enemy, relying on his Kanohi and elemental powers to both hit and retrieve his tool.
Trivia[]
- Reikan’s name comes from the Hebrew noun “רִיק”, meaning “empty” though it has been used to mean “vacuum” as well.
- Reikan serves as Redastrayzero’s secondary self-moc. The character was primarily designed as a foil to Raeys; a confident and stoic lone wolf. Despite this, the two share flaws and vulnerabilities, explicitly to further the representation of their creator.
- Reikan was primarily inspired by the Fighter class from Dungeons and Dragons.
