"Tetradon grabbed a scimitar off of his back and muttered something indecipherable. With a quick lash, his scarlet-colored right eye flashed white and turned a light shade of azure. With a small, glacial-sounding noise, the scimitar's spiny blade metamorphosed into a large axe made of white and blue ice. Accompanying this came a frozen wall that shot up from the ground and divided the space between Phi and Ruthos. He felt the urge to yell “Silence!” but felt that what he’d already done said enough."

Qama Radúla were a pair of weapons wielded by the Falqãta Tetradon.

Description[]

In their default form, Qama Radúla were a pair of long-handled weapons with spiny, white and red-colored blades. Their default forms were modeled after Tetradon's Xakar, which in turn was made to appear as a mutated Crast.

If unchanged, Qama Radúla were capable of sending out a flurry of dark red spines that would turn black and expand when the user commanded them to. The weapon's form could be manipulated by Tetradon; most often they were transfigured in order to be capable of channeling one of the few Elemental powers he could possess. One or both blades could be transformed, although it is unknown if he was capable of effectively wielding two elements at the same time. These forms included a white-and-blue axe which corresponded to Ice, a silver blade which corresponded to Magnetism, a long green sickle which corresponded to Acid, and a mechanical hilt which corresponded to Plasma and would create a blade made of it.

Forms[]

Etymology[]

As there are many versions of the language spoken by the Falqãta, Qama Radúla's name could have had several different meanings. Tetradon claimed that their intended meaning was "chains of vindication," but also said that the name could mean "swords of death" or "tooth saws" among other things.

Example Usage[]

In Against the Storm: Volume III, Tetradon used Qama Radúla's Ice form to create a wall of ice between Phi and Ruthos to stop them from arguing. Later, he used its Magnetism form to throw Wreshi into the air high enough for her to break her arm upon landing. In a fight against Pretadix, he used its Acid form to sever the Makuta's hand and its Plasma form to absorb a Plasma-based attack.

Trivia[]

  • After Tetradon's death, the blades of Qama Radúla were separated from one another and had different fates. One, locked in Acid form, was taken and contained by the KCO and designated KIM-300. The other, locked in Plasma form, was used by Toa Detras to channel their elemental Fire powers. They eventually modified it into the Welding Spear.
  • Qama Radúla is named after the qama, a short double-edged sword originally used by the Circassians, and the radula, a toothed, chainsaw-like organ which many mollusks use to feed. The possible name translation "tooth saws" references the radula.
  • Originally, the weapon's green sickle form was meant to control the Element of Poison. However, Chondrya changed its Element to Acid after making Tetradon inject venom through his spines.
