The Protosteel Staff of Iron is a Toa Tool formerly used by Rataku, a Toa of Iron.
History[]
Though much about its history is currently unknown, it is known that it was initially designed by a Fe-Matoran called Rataku. Design for a local Toa of Iron, this weapon would instead find its way into its creators hands after said protector gave him one of his Toa Stones (becoming a Turaga in the process). Rataku would wield it for his career as a Toa, up until his disappearance during the Toa/Dark Hunter War.
In a firefight with some Dark Hunters, Rataku was flung into a vat of Energized Protodermis in a cargo ship, and believed to have been destroyed. Presumed to have perished, another Toa of Iron- Lisfek- claimed the Staff in the hopes of studying and reverse-engineering it.
He carried thsi staff with him on his adventures with the Toa Vastrius, eventually losing it to Makuta Xociv after he and his team walked into one of his hideouts. The Makuta would send it to one of his brothers to study it, though it is currently unknown as to whether or not he made any tangible results.
Both Makuta left the Matoran Universe near the end of the Destiny War, leaving the weapon behind. It found its way into an Order of Mata Nui agent, who would go on to use it to sabotage Makuta Teridax's campaign of conquest after his takeover of the Great Spirit Robot. After the tyrant's death, the Matoran Universe suffered heavy damage, forcing the agent to abandon the Staff. An unknown Dark Hunter found it months later after scavenging for salvage, selling it into the black market. It's current owner and location are unknown to this day.

The Protosteel Staff of Iron has the ability to channel the user's Elemental Power of Iron. Its user can be able to create objects made of Iron. It can also cut through any object, no matter what the object is made out of.
