Protosteel is the hardest known substance in the Matoran Universe, a rare type of Metallic Protodermis.

Description[]

Protosteel is a very hard, durable metalloid used in the creation of Makuta armor, weapons, and masks, as well as the weapons of many other races and beings.

Being called "protosteel," this material may in fact be an alloy of multiple proto-metals, perhaps a rather simple blend of two metals, possibly a carbon-like material for hardness, high melting point, and low density, and an iron-like material for metallic properties and what malleability it does have.

It is in fact not the most durable material possible in the Matoran Universe. Cekadax managed to create an alloy of several materials and proto-metals to make herself armor that is even tougher than protosteel. It is more malleable that protosteel, which adds much more durability, but it is heavier, and always has some bluish tint. Despite its higher malleability, it is still quite hard, like most other metals. Basically, protosteel's strength-to weight ratio has not yet been breached, but for volume, there is in fact at least one stronger material.

Properties[]

It is very resistant to damage, taking a large amount of force to break or crack it. It is a viable replacement and upgrade for metallic Protodermis, able to contain energy and channel power just as well as any proto-metal, but is tougher and much less flexible, as well as requiring much more heat to melt .It is extremely hard to work with, and only several beings within the universe can deal with it, including the Nynrah Ghosts and Artakha. It can be flattened with excessive force, shattered with an impact, and melted by intense heat. It has a tendency to crack rather than bend.

Uses[]
