The Protodermis Shed was the result of a Dark Shed that fell into a pool of Protodermis energized protodermis.The shed acquired telepathic abilities, and became self-aware. It gained control over Protodermis, too.It then began to track Opehri, where it finally found him at Nui Marsh. They fought, but Opehri won by teleporting the shed to the Void between dimensions. Before he disappeared, the shed told Opehri that something of powerful proportions was hidden beneath Coska Nui.

- The Protodermis Shed was similar to the Protodermis Matoran, in the way that they both were wise creatures but could be quite cold and unfriendly at times.
- The Protodermis Shed wasn't evil, but it tried to kill Opehri to stop something terrible happening in the future.Unfortunately, he didn't succeed.
