Peradion is a rare, but incredibly sharp and durable form of volcanic stone found within the Matoran Universe.
History[]
In the earliest days of the Matoran Univers, Peradion was prized for its amazing durability, and was often utilized as blades and spikes for weaponry. However, it eventually fell out of favor as metallic weapons gradually became more widely available.
Today, Peradion is mostly mined to produce gemstones, though it can also be polished to create mirrors. Some societies still use the substance as cutting tools in the form of knives or scalpels.
Properties[]
Exactly how Peradion is produced is unclear, though it appears to be the product of a little understood process involving a number of unique volcanos. Because these volcanos are scattered throughout the Matoran Universe, Peradion is realtivly rare compared to many forms of volcanic rock.
Due to the unusual nature of the volcanos that form it, Peradion possess a number of unique properties: Peradion blades will keep their edge for great periods of time without needing to be sharpened. It is also amazingly durable, able to resist intese heat, and take enormous punishment with little more than a scratch. Peradion will fracture and break, however, if exposed to sufficent force.
Trivia[]
- Peradion is based on obsidian, a real world form of volcanic glass that has been used by various cultures for thousands of years.
