The Order of Mata Nui was an organization dedicated to serving the will of Mata Nui. For thousands of years, the existence of the Order was kept a secret until the Cult of Dark Order eventually decimated their headquarters, forcing the organization to disband as a way to survive.
History[]
Almost 100,000 years ago, the Hand of Artakha aimed to exact justice and pursue Mata Nui's will. In time the Hand disbanded itself because its members lacked discipline and its actions were too destructive. Some members scattered, and new Toa teams took up the mantle as public defenders. One of the Hand's members, Toa Helryx, felt the need for a secretive organization dedicated to Mata Nui's will, so she founded the Order of Mata Nui. She recruited many of the Hand's former members and created the rule that no other Toa could join the Order.
After they were created, the Toa Mata were sent to the Order's headquarters on Daxia. There Helryx awakened the Toa, and Hydraxon trained them. The Order eventually sent the Toa to Karda Nui, where they defended the local Av-Matoran from various threats. The Toa then entered stasis in the Codrex, ready to be deployed if the Great Spirit were felled.
The Order secretly maintained the balance of the universe while hiding their existence. Among other things, the Order experimented on Ehlek's species and had Botar send many unredeemable villains to the Pit. It also assisted with the Time Slip, relocating many disguised Av-Matoran to various places across the universe.
Ten decades later, The Order of Mata Nui would be attacked by Trazark and his Cult of Dark Order, During the conflict, Helryx faced off against the Cult's leader, Trazark, but was defeated despite her best efforts to try and kill him. Trazark then attempted to finish the Toa off, however, the sudden intervention and noble sacrifice of Botar was able to distract the Cult leader long enough to allow the first Toa and many other members present at the time to escape. As a result of the Order's decimation, Helryx declared the disbanding of the Order of Mata Nui, and many of its members reluctantly went into hiding.
It wouldn't be until a century latter that many members of the Order re-emerged from hiding and ended up joining Kuurk's Empire, as many saw it as an organization worth fighting for.

- Axonn - A stout, armored member once in charge of guarding the Kanohi Ignika; Now a member of Kuurk's Empire.
- Brutaka - A tall, golden armored member once in charge of guarding the Kanohi Ignika; Now a member of Kuurk's Empire.
- Botar - A male Glykovian who once took defeated criminals to the Pit. (Revived)
- Hydraxon - The Pit's original jailer; injured by an earthquake and killed by Takadox. (Deceased)
- Hydraxon II - A duplicate of the original Hydraxon created by the Ignika. The Order assumed for a long time that he was the original Hydraxon until several of the organization's former members found out the truth about what had actually happened to the original jailer a few months later; Now a member of Kuurk's Empire.
- Jerbraz - An invisible member who provided information for the Atlas. (Deceased)
- Johmak - An ebon-armored female member who can shatter into crystals. (Fate Unknown)
- Krakua - A Toa of Sonics. Formerly a servant who acted as a liaison between the Order and Toa, later recruited as a full member; Currently in hiding.
- Mazeka - A Ko-Matoran who acted as a spy. (Revived)
- Tobduk - A ten-foot tall member who normally performed the more horrid assignments. (Fate Unknown)
- Trinuma - A nine-foot tall warrior. (Fate Unknown)

- A male member who was assigned to Metru Nui following the Matoran Civil War and later was tortured into revealing the Order's existence and the Toa Metru's true collective destiny to the Karzahni. (Deceased)
