Nutrex is the Makuta of Stelt.
History[]
Approximately 100,000 years ago, the Great Spirit Mata Nui brought Nutrex into existence, fashioning him from the enigmatic substance known as Antidermis on a secluded island located in the southern reaches of the Matoran Universe. As a member of the Brotherhood of Makuta, Nutrex assumed the responsibility of creating Rahi creatures and serving Mata Nui's will. His expertise lay in the field of virology, a complex scientific discipline even by Makuta standards.
In the course of his endeavors, Nutrex stumbled upon a previously unknown virus, which he named "Dark Shed." Consumed by scientific curiosity, he meticulously documented the virus's characteristics and embarked on an exhaustive study. Nutrex soon discovered that the Dark Shed possessed ethereal properties that surpassed conventional scientific comprehension, leading him down an path that intertwined with spiritual dimensions.
Following the Matoran Civil War, Nutrex received an assignment from Miserix to serve as guardian on the island of Stelt. Several years later, when Teridax summoned the Makuta to Destral to unveil his grand scheme and assert dominion over the Brotherhood of Makuta, Nutrex aligned himself with Teridax's cause, evading the fate suffered by those deemed disloyal.
At a later juncture, an extraordinary artifact known as the Kanohi Trankerkokiskorniahk, commonly referred to as the Mask of Chaos, was discovered on the island of Piruw. Nutrex sensed an ethereal "calling" emanating from the mask and became consumed by an insatiable obsession to possess it. Despite the efforts of the Brotherhood, the mask was surreptitiously removed from Piruw by an unidentified agent and disappeared, eluding Nutrex's grasp.
With the passage of time, the Makuta species naturally evolved from biomechanical beings to Antidermis, a gaseous viral state within a Protosteel shell. Teridax commissioned the Nynrah Ghosts to modify Makuta armor to accommodate this transformation.
During his tenure in Stelt, Nutrex encountered Sidorak, who approached him with a request to select Voporak, the leader of his clan, for experimentation. Nutrex accepted the proposition, employing this opportunity to explore the potential applications of the Dark Shed upon a living being. He exposed Voporak to the virus alongside various other mutagenic substances, resulting in a transformation that rendered Voporak uniquely attuned to temporal fluctuations. For a period, Nutrex also aided Teridax in the creation of a virus capable of inducing Mata Nui's slumber.
Nutrex assembled a team of Toa Hagah, led by the Toa of Plasma known as Weduk, to serve as his bodyguards. However, when Toa Norik and his faction rebelled against Teridax, many of the Brotherhood's Toa Hagah perished, while others, including Nutrex', managed to survive.
Years later, when the cataclysmic upheaval of the Great Cataclysm struck the Matoran Universe, Nutrex found himself in Destral. The fortress succumbed to the tremors, inflicting damage upon Nutrex's armor and causing his essence to escape. Mutran and Chirox assisted Nutrex by transferring his energies into an Exo-Toa until his armor could be repaired.
Once again in Stelt, Nutrex encountered and engaged in battle with the Dark Hunter known as Conjurer. The Dark Hunter sought to absorb Nutrex's power with his Rhotuka, yet his efforts proved fruitless, leaving Nutrex unharmed.
The Takiw-Nui War[]
On a fateful day, news spread throughout the ranks of the Makuta that Zakkond, a fellow Makuta, had been forcefully ousted from his designated region of Takiw Nui by the Alpha Beings. The Brotherhood seized upon this opportunity to justify their invasion of the land.
Unbeknownst to the majority of Makuta, the Trankerkokiskorniahk was concealed within Takiw Nui during this period, and Nutrex once again sensed its allure. Seizing the chance to exploit this situation, Nutrex petitioned Teridax for the role of commanding general of the Makuta forces in the Takiw Nui War. Unaware of Nutrex's ulterior motives, Teridax granted his request. Throughout the course of the war, Nutrex tirelessly sought clues pertaining to the Mask of Chaos, but his efforts ultimately proved fruitless. Understanding that the assassination of Alpha Being leader Vavakx was vital to his investigation, Nutrex orchestrated a plot to eliminate him.
With the aid of a covert double agent named Tahkod, Nutrex manipulated one of Vavakx's Toa bodyguards, Guhjii, into luring him into a trap. However, the scheme unraveled, and Vavakx narrowly escaped his would-be assassins. Recognizing that his plans had been thwarted, Nutrex fled Takiw Nui, leaving his forces in defeat.
Destiny War[]
Subsequently, while residing on Stelt, Nutrex encountered Miserix, who confronted him with a dire ultimatum — revealing the whereabouts of Teridax or facing a gruesome demise. Yielding to the pressure, Nutrex disclosed the location of the Core Processor, directing the former leader of the Brotherhood of Makuta toward that destination. Seizing the opportunity, Miserix endeavored to assimilate Nutrex using his Shadow Hand. However, with astonishing agility, Nutrex managed to escape his armor before Miserix could absorb him. This escape led Miserix to erroneously believe that Nutrex had met his demise.
Following Teridax's death, Nutrex embarked on a journey to Spherus Magna, assuming the guise of a Matoran to blend among the populace. Engaging in covert investigations spanning years, he relentlessly pursued the precise location where the Trankerkokiskorniahk had been concealed. Patiently biding his time, Nutrex awaited the opportune moment to seize this coveted artifact.
The Invasion[]
During the perilous quest for the coveted Mask of Wishes, Deriahk, Frustrator, and Vilrohk embarked on their arduous journey. Seizing an opportune moment, Nutrex orchestrated a ruse, feigning vulnerability and impending danger. The trio rescued Nutrex, unaware of his true intentions. When the group successfully obtained the legendary mask, Nutrex unveiled his true identity, launching a surprise attack that overwhelmed them, ultimately wresting the Mask of Wishes from their grasp.
Subsequently, Nutrex made an audacious entrance into the Spherus Magna Refuge, taking the concealed Trankerkokiskorniahk from its secure location. However, his audacious act was swiftly met with a formidable opponent in the form of Vavakx. Engaging in a fierce confrontation, Vavakx emerged triumphant, overpowering Nutrex's defenses. Driven to desperation, Nutrex, in a final act of defiance, harnessed the power of the Mask of Wishes, invoking its mystic abilities to resurrect the dormant spirit dwelling within the Trankerkokiskorniahk. This desperate gambit exacted a heavy toll, sapping Nutrex of his life force.
The ultimate fate and status of Nutrex following this event remain shrouded in uncertainty, leaving his subsequent existence a matter of speculation.
Abilities and Traits[]
Nutrex, distinguished by his exceptional scientific acumen, displayed innate proficiency in the field of virology. His discerning intellect regarded viruses as exemplars of perfection within the natural world, with the enigmatic Dark Shed capturing his particular fascination and awe. Through relentless investigation, Nutrex unveiled the ethereal essence of the Dark Shed, thereby harnessing its otherworldly power. This profound revelation kindled within him a deep appreciation for the arcane and the mystical, bestowing upon him an aura of mystification and wisdom.
The resounding allure of the Kanohi Trankerkokiskorniahk, the Mask of Chaos, exerted an incessant pull upon Nutrex's consciousness, igniting an all-consuming obsession to locate and possess it.
Exuding an air of elegance, Nutrex's demeanor and bearing epitomized sophistication in both his stance and mannerisms.
Powers[]
As a member of the Makuta species, Nutrex commanded the elemental power of Shadow, the capability to generate Kraata, shapeshift, and harness the extraordinary range of abilities associated with the 42 Kraata powers.
Supplementing his combat prowess, Nutrex exhibited mastery over his lightning power, skillfully employing it as both a deadly offensive weapon and a means to torment and torture his adversaries.
Mask and Tools[]
Nutrex wore the Great Mask of Undeath. In addition, he wielded claws that served as conduits for his powers, allowing him to channel and unleash his abilities. Complementing his arsenal was a Tridax Pod, an instrument that further enhanced his capabilities and strategic versatility.
