Memoirs of the Wicked is short epistolary in the Ignika Universe Saga, detailing the history of Skakdi and their dealings with Abaddon. It is written from the perspective of Idrih, Kormak, Javyz and Lumenious.
Story[]
Chapter One: Idrih[]
We are the Skakdi – a disgusting and vile race, despised by all. We did not choose this life. Not one of us wanted to eat dead plants and over-populated Rahi. There are some that enjoy their role in the universe, but not I.
I refuse to accept this status. Skakdi are powerful creations. We are resistant to elemental powers. We are stronger than most Toa. We collaborate with ease. These traits are not celebrated, not even among the Skakdi.
We fight for food, fight for weapons, and fight for social standing. My hands are not clean. Centuries ago I used brute force to gain my title; Idrih the Intelligent, and my army. These things are needed to rule over the Skakdi.
There was one who over saw us. The vile, disgusting Skakdi race had to report to some member of a secret organisation. He was squeamish compared to us, sickened by our battling and carnal lifestyle. Very easily he was persuaded to leave.
I told him of our conquests and our plans to rule the universe. He did not believe me – the only reason some of us had considered take over was his pure strength. As strong as the Skakdi are, our overseer was stronger. I had to employ other strategies to be rid of him.
Instead of battle, I told him we would consume. I needed only a few Skakdi to agree with me, some of my loyal army. The overseer couldn’t handle it. He knew we wouldn’t eat the Matoran yet the images flooded his nightmares.
Finally, he left. It was then us four, ruling the Skakdi, for hundreds of years. Then, he came. The Varim.
I can only describe him as a tyrant. At first, we despised him, as we despise all races (sometimes even our own). He offered gifts to the warlords – elemental powers. They weren’t so much as gifts as curses.
I gained abilities beyond my imagination. I can control metal at a wave of my hand. To no surprise, the other three saw this as a chance to be the only warlord on Zakaz. The Varim demanded a cost for his gift.
We overpowered Kormak, his army now in the hands of this tyrant. At the time, I was oblivious to his true intentions. I suppose I was drunk with the new powers I had – even though the other warlords were faster and stronger, I could use my new magnetism powers to disarm and disable them.
The Varim poisoned us. He gave our armies a virus, one that drove them mad. Our so-called gifts made us unstable, eating away at our minds. The Skakdi, the race that devours, were being eaten alive by our own powers. Hundreds of years later, and we are paying the price for our greed.
I never learned his intentions. Even now, I cannot say what he hoped to gain. His coup against the Brotherhood of Makuta was a failure. If he wanted to take the throne as ruler of our universe, why did he approach head on?
Regardless of the Varim’s choices, I have to leave Zakaz. My loyal army grows less stable each coming day. The Brotherhood gave us warning about betraying the Makuta, which the other two blindly heeded. I know what the warning means.
The Brotherhood will take over this universe. I will station my army and send them into battle, for the last time. I do not wish for my brain to rot away from this curse.
There are rumours of a Rahi in the southern continents that can cure all infection and disease. Although I’m sure there’s Toa with the same abilities, they would not dare heal a Skakdi, let alone one maddened by its power.
I write on this scroll for hope of undoing my curse. If there are any out there who can free the Skakdi from the claws of the Varim… help them. Even the Skakdi do not deserve this cruelty.
– Idrih the Intelligent
Chapter Two: Kormak[]
Weak… Insufferable… Names they call me…
I do not remember. I was… outcast? No.
I was thrown out. For the Varim’s cause.
He took my army for his war. The war that was not the Skakdi’s.
I do not know why we joined that war…
The ringing is painful. I can hear the Matoran quivering away in their huts. They are shouting in fear, screaming “don’t make a sound.”
It rings. It hurts.
Why can I hear things other Skakdi cannot?
Other Skakdi…? There are other… Skakdi?
I will not… be forgotten…
Forgotten? Forsaken…?
Why am I writing on the back of this scroll?
Idrih… Who was that? Who am I…?
Kormak the…
Chapter Three: Javyz[]
This is a recount of a Ce-Matoran (anonymous) when they ventured south of Zivot into the land of the Skakdi.
“That Varim! The slimy cretin Lumenious sold me out to him! When, the Skakdi, had enough of him, that disgusting excuse of a lord Lumenious set his lackeys onto me.
I could kill him in a single blow. I should have killed him in a single blow. That stupid, vile, sack of dung…
I will have revenge. The red and black Makuta, the Varim, the wretched Lumenious, the yellow freak Rekridor. I will kill them all! I will reign down on them like a thunderstorm!”
The Skakdi continued to repeat this passage over and over. The Ce-Matoran mentioned that they made a declaration as well:
“I, Javyz the Jealous, will kill them all!”
After this, the Ce-Matoran left in fear.
- Fronn, the Chronicler
Chapter Four: Lumenious[]
I will rise, the Makuta Antroz will fall
Take my army, I have my pride as a Skakdi
Insult my pride, I’ll have your head on a pike
Turn my army against me, face my wrath
Carved into this wall is my pledge as a Skakdi:
Lumenious the Lustrous will rise above the Makuta and the Legion!
