Melisma was a bladed bow which the Toa of Sonics Tesudin used as his Toa tool. After it was broken and he was mortally wounded in battle, he gave it to Toa Navahko.
History[]
Melisma was created, along with its three arrows, by the Nynrah Ghosts on Nynrah. They were given to Tesudin, who was transformed into a Toa by their artificial Suva. He named it after melisma, the act of singing multiple notes in a single syllable. He brought the bow with him throughout the entirety of his life, including on Powai Nui, where it was broken in half by Makuta Hysterix during a battle with him. Before Tesudin's death, he lent it over to the novice Toa of Ice Navahko. Navahko then held on to Melisma for many years.
Description[]
Melisma was a thin, metallic bow with a string composed of fibrous metal woven together. Its upper limb bore a blade which allowed it to be more effectively used for melee combat if necessary. The weapon came with 3 black arrows which were made of Protosteel and were thus nearly indestructible. At full power, they were nigh-unstoppable, as was demonstrated when it was able to pierce Tetradon's Protosteel armor. The arrows could be charged with Elemental power, giving the weapon much versatility.
Example Usage[]
In Against the Storm/Volume VI, Tesudin fired an Elementally-charged arrow which pierced through the heavily-armored Makuta Hysterix and released a powerful shockwave upon striking the ground beneath him.

- The bow was named after the singing of multiple notes in one syllable of text. This serves as the origin of its name both in-universe and in real life.
- An earlier version of Melisma was named the Amplitude Bow and featured a laser sight. Chondrya also constructed it with a rubber band, allowing it to actually launch an arrow.
