Mati is a Ko-Matoran from Mahri Nui. He is a member of the Mahri Nui Sentinels, protecting the city from the dangers at the bottom of the Voya Nui Bay.
History[]
Like most Matoran of Mahri Nui, Mati once lived elsewhere in the Matoran Universe until he was severely injured and sent to Karzahni for repairs. There, his body was rebuilt into one that was smaller and weaker, and then he was sent to the most uninhabited part of the Southern Continent in order to hide Karzahni's failure to rebuilt him. He was in the region of the Continent that would become Voya Nui when the Great Cataclysm hurled it up to the surface of the Endless Ocean.
Mati survived the Cataclysm and began living on Voya Nui, eventually moving to the growing city of Mahri Nui on the coast of the Mahri Nui Bay. He lived there until an earthquake dislodged the city and caused it to sink into the Voya Nui Bay. As the survivors began to recover from this second calamity, Mati volunteered to be a part of the Mahri Nui Sentinels, Dekar's new militia established to protect the city from the new threats found at the bottom of the Bay.
Ten years later, Mati was sent by Idris to warn the rest of the city to stay away from Lemiddus, after the Fa-Matoran accidentally "killed" Kyros under the influence of the Kanohi Ignika. This mission was interrupted when Idris marshalled all available Sentinels to defend against the Gadunka. Mati survived the battle, but he lost his left arm in the process.
Personality and Traits[]
Mati is a dutiful and determined Ko-Matoran, who obeys orders from Dekar or Idris without question.
Powers and Equipment[]
As a Ko-Matoran, Mati has a heightened resistance to extreme cold. He's proficient at sub-aquatic combat and hunting due to the training of Dekar. Mati wears a powerless Kanohi Calix and typically carries a Electro-Sword and a small buckler shield.
In the battle with the Gadunka, Mait lost his left arm, forcing him to reevaluate his fighting style now that he was incapable of carrying a shield as he once did.

- Mati has the unique significance of being created for the 2022 remaster of Rock Bottom, not appearing in the original 2014 version. He was created to fill out the ranks of the Mahri Nui Sentinels with named members.
