The Mask of Sensory Aptitude was a Kanohi Mask that allowed the user to enhance their senses; including sight, hearing, smell, touch, taste, and balance. However, the augmented eyesight the Kanohi provided paled in comparison to that of a Ruru or Akaku.
When activated, the Mask of Sensory Aptitude required little focus in order for it to remain activated, unlike most other Kanohi. This was done so that the requirements needed to keep it activated did not negate the mask's effects. If this minimal amount of focus was all that was put in, however, the mask would not stay activated for much longer than around fifteen seconds.
With training, one also could shift the mask's balance of sensory augmentation to enhance certain senses more than others by command. However, this was more mentally draining than normal.
History[]
The Mask of Sensory Aptitude traces its origins back to some of the earliest mask-making techniques adopted on Spherus Magna, where an unclear number of masks were created for the Matoran populace. At this point in the history of the Matoran Universe, this mask became heavily associated with De-Matoran, who held it as a symbol of their Elemental disciplines.
Over the 100,000 year span of the Matoran Universe's functionality, the Mask of Sensory Aptitude became a somewhat uncommon Kanohi. The Mask primary found itself in the hands of hunters and gatherers.
In Metru Nui, Masks of Sensory Aptitude could be crafted with relative ease using Regeneration, Teleport, and Enlarge Kanoka disks, usually originating from Ko-Metru. Requiring specific Kanoka disks to manufacture, the Kanohi was a typically uncommon mask in Metru Nui, with only a handful of Mask Makers willing to craft it.
Example Usage[]
Hunters and gatherers of a tribe to the eastern portion of the Matoran Universe have used this mask to hunt prey and scavenge for edible flora.
