The Mask of Control is one of the three Legendary Masks of Power on the island of Okoto.
History[]
The Mask of Control was created many thousands of years ago. It is said to be made out of raw magic and solid gold, and it can grant the user unspeakable power. It was worn by the Mask Maker Makuta, who created masks for the Islanders of Okoto, but they were never as good as his brother, Ekimu's masks.
Makuta to grew jealous of Ekimu's success and decided to forge the strongest mask of all time, the Mask of Ultimate Power. Makuta donned the mask, the sheer power causing the island to shake and crumble.

Ekimu realized what his brother had done and managed to knock the mask from his brother's face, causing a massive shockwave to roll across the land, sending both brothers into an endless sleep. The mask, along with the Mask of Creation and the Mask of Ultimate Power, were lost to the island, waiting for a time when someone would come looking for them.
It is said that the Elemental Creatures hid the Mask in a maze and only they know how to find it. There it rested safely until Thousands of years later the minions of Makuta began searching for the Great Masks.
Makuta sent the ancient Hunter Umarak to track down the Mask. After stalking the Toa, he found his way to the Labyrinth of Control, the maze where the Creatures hid it, and forcibly united with Ketar to gain access to the chamber room and retrieved the Mask. After almost losing it to Pohatu, he went to Makuta, wanting the Mask for himself. But Makuta used its energy to force Umarak to put it on.

The Mask mutated Umarak into a monstrous titan; the Destroyer. The Mask has also been transformed. He then uses it to control the elements and create the Elemental Beasts out of his Shadow Traps. However, Makuta would later betray Umarak and take his energies, killing the Destroyer. The Mask then returned to it's original state.

- The Mask of Control appears in the top right corner on each of the BIONICLE 2016 set boxes, as it is the main mask for the year.
- The mask itself appears in the Umarak the Hunter set. The mutated form appears in Umarak the Destroyer.
- The Mask of Control was carved in reverence to a celestial constellation visible in the Okotan sky.
