The Mask of Augmentation is an ancient Mask of Power residing on the same planet as the island of Okoto.

History[]

According to legend, the Mask was the result of a project conducted by the leader of the Forge Kings, Xylaqon. His goal was to improve upon what he viewed as "the flaws of all lifeforms". After years of hard work, he was finally able to create a Mask capable of modifying existing lifeforms. Xylaqon used its powers on himself, transforming into a more powerful being. He then proceeded to spread its power across the Clockwork Kingdom, infecting everyone present with its influence.

However, the Mask overloaded from the sheer amount of energy it used to fuel its powers, and ended up exhausting them towards its bearer. Xylaqon was critically injured in the process, forcing him to use whatever power he still had to construct himself a life-support system. Once he fell comatose, the Mask assumed control of the mobile city's operating systems, and sent the settlement towards the skies. Since then, none have heard or seen anything from it again.

Powers[]

The Mask of Augmentation was designed with the purpose of modifying pre-existing lifeforms, through use of magic and an unknown technology. It was said to alter the target right to its "very blood" (suggesting a change in the genetic coding of the victim). It was said to have grant the target mechincal or cybernetic implants, fusing organic matter with technology. it was said to have created "plants of electronic nature" (implying to have modified them into a techno-organic state). It was also said to be capable of repairing any damage done to its works, with one record even claiming that it could recreate anything from dust or ashes. One record claimed that it could also create Fusions if need-be, though none seemed to be present within the tale.

it was said to transfer its power in the form of razor-sharp dust clouds, possibly some form of nanotechnology, magic, or combination of the two. It's range was said to be that of an entire city (though the records do note that it needed to consume and release a great deal of energy in the process). The Mask was also said to have some degree of sentience or self-awareness, as noted by its choice of removing the Clockwork Kingdom from Okoto.

  • The inspiration for the Mask and its power came from SIVA, an antagonistic force appearing in Destiny's DLC, Rise of Iron.
