The Magma Hook was a Toa Tool crafted and used by Toa Vilnius. According to a number of contemporary accounts, Toa Vilnius created the Toa tool himself using the horn of a Kane-Ra, which he allegedly found dying after being wounded by a Dark Hunter.
Seeking to commemorate the Rahi, Vilnius fashioned one of the creature's horns into a weapon that was capable of both channeling bursts of his Elemental Fire Powers and being used as a grappling hook. Using the weapon, Vilnius was able to scale large cliff faces with ease or even hook himself onto a moving target. At one point, Vilnius used his Magma Hook to capture a fleeing Matoran convict.
Additionally, Vilnius would have used his Magma Hook during his battle against Toa "Graviton," a rogue Toa of Gravity.
When Vilnius retired from life as a Toa and chose to become a Turaga, he kept his Magma Hook intact.
However, upon becoming the ruler of Metru-Nui, Vilnius was gifted with the Staff of Fusion as his badge of office, though he kept possession of his Magma Hook.

Trivia[]
- Although not mentioned in contemporary tales of Vilnius' weapon, Vilnius fashioned his Magma Hook after the weapons of Toa Gali, whom he had seen a carving of and wished to honor her with the shape of his weapon.
