The M'kulyth, or "Mask of Flesh", as some inhabitants of The Matoran Universe refer to it as, is an extraterrestrial entity comprised of organic material.
History[]
Nothing is known about this creature. so far, there're only rumors and legends of the abomination. Supposedly, it would descend from the stars and land on a world. Once there, it would begin to devour any and all life on it. Once the species were wiped out, then it would leave that world and find another, repeating the process.
Abilities and Traits[]
The most notably aspect of the M'kulyth is its ability to manipulate organic matter. This includes skin, flesh, blood, and plant matter. It can break down organic material into individual cells, and absorb it all into its own biomass. This also allows for some limited form of shapeshifting, based on the amount of biomass it absorbs. The creature also has telepathy, allowing it to influence anyone within range of its power (though it is possible to resist them). The larger the "body", the more powerful its telepathic powers are. Given that it lacks the major organs most organisms have, it can survive in places they normally couldn't (such as the cold vacuum of space).
The thing is capable of independent though, though with a limited intelligence, like that of an animal or beast. It at times behaves like a parasite, latching onto any organic entity, be it dead or alive. It can possess the organism it latches onto, though it would more difficult to control the host if it's still alive and capable of intelligent thought. Once it gains control, then then "reshapes" the host into a form of its choosing. As said above, it lacks any organs, and as such, can't be destroyed or killed like a normal being. It can also regenerate itself, though only when its in its basic form. It can also create underlings of its own design, though amount of undead abominations is limited by the size of the M'kulyth's form.
There are some drawbacks. For one, it and its minions cannot manipulate Elemental Energy, meaning that they have no access to Elemental Powers. It also lacks the ability (and sometimes intelligence) to use technology and machinery, such as firearms and Kanohi masks. This in turn makes it difficult to assimilate and control biomechanical beings. The more machinery they have, the more difficult it is. This makes beings from the Matoran Universe much more resistant to the Mask of Flesh.
