- "Put the Mask down Kyros. It's evil. I don’t know how, but it puts thoughts in your head. It needs to be destroyed."
- ―Lemiddus, Rock Bottom
Lemiddus was a Fa-Matoran guard and personally recovered the Ignika after it sank down to Mahri Nui.
History[]
At some point, Lemiddus was injured in his original homeland and was sent to Karzahni to be repaired. He was rebuilt into a weaker form, and then sent off to the center of the Southern Continent so that Karzahni's failure to properly repair the Matoran sent to him would not be discovered. Lemiddus lived in a small village of Matoran, deep within the forests of the continent, until the Great Cataclysm dislodged Voya Nui from the Continent and launched it up to the surface of the Endless Ocean.
Lemiddus procrastinated moving to Mahri Nui for as long as possible, being put off by the idea of living in such a densely populated area. But when his small village was destroyed by a massive wave, he finally decided to moved to the city. Less than five years later, the city sank into the Voya Nui Bay, and Lemiddus sank with it. He was among the first to volunteer for Dekar's Sentinels, hoping to help protect the city as everyone adjusted to their new life. However, the strict regimen of the Sentinels did not always agree with him, and he often slept in late and missed the beginnings of his scheduled shifts.
Lemiddus' chronic habit of sleeping through his alarm eventually became a matter of life and death when his fellow Sentinel, a Ga-Matoran named Kyrehx, was being attacked by Vampire Squid. Arriving on the scene just after the attack began, Lemiddus threw himself out into the water and pulled Kyrehx back into the safety of the Air Dome, and then carried her to Kaira's hut, where she could receive medical treatment. He himself had suffered several Squid bites during his daring rescue, and Kaira required him to stay overnight so she could be certain he recovered completely. As soon as Kaira released him he requested that Idris put him back on guard duty immediately. Idris complied, albeit reluctantly.
During his first shift back on duty, Lemiddus noticed something flashing high above the city. He swam after it, catching it just before it fell into the Black Water. Upon examining his discovery he realized he had found a strange, glowing Kanohi Mask. The Kanohi began to affect his moods, making him prone to erratic mood swings that he wasn't fully conscious of. He intended to take the Kanohi to Idris and propose they use it to try and heal Kyrehx, stumbling into a meeting between her and the current Council Leader of Mahri Nui, Kyros. Idris noticed Lemiddus' odd behavior and attempted to take the Kanohi from him for his own safety. During a short scuffle, Kyros touched Lemiddus and was electrocuted to death as a result of the curse the Kanohi had placed on Lemiddus. The energy also caused Kyros' hut to begin to burn, and Lemiddus fled the scene in a panic.
Lemiddus soon realized he was being influenced by the strange and powerful Kanohi, and decided to destroy it to prevent it from hurting anyone else. Hoping to find some too with which to accomplish this goal, he ran to Defilak's workshop. Not long after he arrived, a recently revived Kyros found and attacked him, intending to take the Kanohi for himself. The two Matoran fought to a stalemate, but the untimely return of Dekar's expedition to the Black Water gave Kyros the upper hand. Kyros overloaded Lemiddus' heartlight with a final surge of energy and then fled the scene with the Kanohi, leaving Lemiddus to die in Dekar's arms. Lemiddus remained conscious long enough to tell Dekar about the Kanohi he had found and that it needed to be destroyed before he died.
Legacy[]
In the aftermath of his death, Lemiddus' actions became a driving force for Dekar, who swore he would finish the mission that the Fa-Matoran started to destroy the mask and stop Kyros.
Personality and Traits[]
Lemiddus was a genuinely earnest Matoran, even despite the dire circumstances in which he spent most of his life. He had a deeply ingrained sense of personal responsibly, driving him to take initiative to correct problems he saw as being his own fault. He took his duty as a Sentinel very seriously, believing protecting those that could not protect themselves to be one of the noblest causes one could dedicate themselves to. However, most Matoran would struggle to see all this in him, as Lemiddus often kept to himself, was uncomfortable in large crowds, and often struggled to live up to his own ideals due to his struggles with punctuality and managing the rigid schedule of a Sentinel.
While under the influence of the Ignika, Lemiddus' pleasant attitude became obliviously carefree before spiraling into extreme paranoia. He believed that anyone would try to take the Ignika from him, and responded accordingly and irrationally. Eventually, he realized he was being influenced and his normal sense of duty won out, allowing him to push through in his efforts to destroy the Ignika.
Powers and Equipment[]
As a Fa-Matoran, Lemiddus possessed a heightened sensitivity to the world's magnetic fields, giving him an acute sense of direction superior to most other Matoran. After Mahri Nui sunk into the Voya Nui Bay, the small amount of mutagen he was exposed to gave him a stronger, sleeker form more suited to his new environment. He wore a battered and powerless lesser known variant of the Kanohi Miru, the Mask of Levitation. He also wielded twin electro-blades while he was on duty.
After touching the Ignika, Lemiddus was cursed to discharge pure energy from his body into anyone that touched him as long as the Ignika was in his possession. He never became fully aware of this, as Kyros was the only being he touched while he had the Mask in his possession.

Trivia[]
- The character of Lemiddus was originally created by Zanywoop, and was generously offered for use in Rock Bottom. Originally intended to be a side character, during the writing process Lemiddus' role in the story expanded, as his drive to try and atone for his indirect role Kyrehx's injury made for a compelling character arc. He did still die, as originally promised.
- The canon form of Lemiddus in the Afterverse was created by Ahpolki Inika in April 2022 using Stud.io. While the model carries a solidified air launcher, Lemiddus did not live long enough to ever use one himself.
