Kuhrii was a Ga-Matoran of Cahlra Nui who was later transformed into a Toa.
History[]
Matoran[]
On Cahlra Nui, Kuhrii resided in Gavo-Distra and worked as a doctor. They often traveled to Kocede-Distra to look after their friend and patient, Tewkuna, who had a weak arm. Kuhrii was gifted an invention made by Tritau, a machine that could use some minimal power of a Noble or Great Kanohi, equipped with an Akaku to use as an x-ray machine on patients. When trying to operate the machine one night, there was a malfunction and all the the machine's power was discharged at once, transforming Kuhrii into a Toa and causing them to absorb the Akaku in the process.
Toa[]
Upon transformation, Kuhrii was scared and confused. The existence of Toa was not common knowledge to the Matoran of Cahlra Nui, and Kuhrii was no different. They came to the conclusion that the machine had turned them into some sort of monster. After cautiously and scientificaly testing out their powers, they discovered their Pehkui's ability to change the size of their body. Somewhat relieved, they used this power to crudely disguise themselves as a Matoran, though they found using this ability constantly to be very draining.
After accidentally exposing themselves as a Toa in front of a client, Kuhrii fled to Cahlra-Distra to hide once more. On the way, they encountered Tritau, now transformed into a Toa Nuva, and upon learning the stranger's identity, blamed her for their transformation. Kuhrii's pent up anger and confusion resulted in a fight breaking out with the former friend, however Tritau's enhanced power over lightning easily defeated the Toa of Water.
Upon arrival to Cahlra-Distra, Kuhrii spent most of their time hiding out in runoff sewers under the city, only emerging to disguise themselves and continue their search for answers. One night, they encountered the fleeing Toa Lhitau and Toa Tewkuna pursued by Sakarai. Together, Kuhrii and Tewkuna used used the runoff water to freeze Sakarai solid and escape to the streets of Cahlra-Distra. There, the two were able to provide Kuhrii with some of the answers they had been looking for, describing how they had been forcefully transformed into Toa in the Obsidia Labs. Tewkuna suggested the three of them stick together, and while Kuhrii was more trusting of their friend, they were more wary of Lhitau, who they pinned as being fickle and cowardly. Ultimately, they went their separate ways.
After being harassed by the Ta-Matoran guard of Cahlra-Distra, Kuhrii left for the desert of Po-Ruku in search of solitude. They were almost overcome by the desert's dry heat before encountering Toa Reyru, who took them to a nearby remote Matoran settlement to recover their strength. However, instead of being grateful to he stranger, Kuhrii was irritated by their own shortcomings and the fact that they needed rescuing in the first place. They told Reyru that if they were looking for more Toa to go to Cahlra-Distra, and soon they were on their way again.
After passing by Pofe-Distra, Kuhrii arrived at the canyon in Onu-Ruku. Alone and sullen, they hid out in the Onu-Ruku cave system. There they were found by Zalliaru and Sanairi, who told them more about the history of Cahlra Nui. Sanairi asked Kuhrii for help finding a way to break into the underground Obsidia Labs, and overcome by curiousity Kuhrii agreed to cooperate.
Abilities and Traits[]
As a Ga-Matoran, Kuhrii possessed a minute affinity for water. Upon transformation into a Toa of Water, their power over their element were unlocked, giving them the ability to accumulate, manipulate, and absorb water.
After transformation, their Great Pehkui's ability was unlocked, allowing Kuhrii to decrease their size and return to their normal height at will. They could only use this power for a limited amount of time, since doing so was an exhausting ordeal. They also still possessed the power from the Great Akaku they absorbed during the accident, though these abilities were much harder to access. Their X-ray vision had a tendency to activate at random, making them unable to see things directly in front of them and causing a great deal of confusion.
Upon becoming a Toa, Kuhrii was also granted a pair of Aqua Greatswords, through which they could channel their elemental abilities, as well as combine into a surfboard.
Personality[]
As a Matoran, Kuhrii was very precise and logical, befitting their role as a doctor. These traits carried over into their life as a Toa, manifesting as a desire for knowledge and the methodical manner in which they explored their own powers. At the same time, they are easily frustrated by a perceived lack of control, they hate getting help from others and prefer doing everything by themselves, even if it's detrimental to themselves and those around them. They are very different from typical Toa of Water, being described as an angry, crashing storm rather than a cool, graceful sea. At some point in time, Kuhrii rejected the gender assigned to Ga-Matoran and starting going by they/them pronouns.
