Kromivians were a species inhabiting a large island called Midway Isle between the two continents.
Biography[]
Shortly after the successful departure of the Great Spirit Robot from Spherus Magna, Mata Nui became somewhat overeager with the creation of new species to serve additional functions, resulting in the plethora of different species that would come to inhabit the Matoran Universe. The Kromivian species was one such creation.
Midway Isle, the island home of the Kromivians, was intended as a sort of hub for travelers, a place where sailors or migrants can stop in, get some rest, have their ships or vehicles repaired, and set off again. Their home was meant to serve as a sort of heart for the Great Spirit Robot, allowing for faster travel between islands and/or continents. Kromivians themselves were a welcoming race on the whole, and were generally satisfied to serve Mata Nui in the manner selected for them.
Shortly after Velika's tampering with the sapient species of the Matoran Universe, the Kromivians became more reluctant to fulfill their duties freely as before. When the Kromivian Kalmah rose to become one of the six kings in the League of Six Kingdoms, Midway Isle served as a large hub for League warships. The island itself fell under the jurisdiction of Pridak. Kromivians were barred from providing their services without permission from Pridak, with the exception of official League vessels.
Following the collapse of the League, Kromivians resumed their work as before, only demanding pay in return for their work. The price was low enough to be affordable for most sailors, and while sailors in the Matoran Universe were initially reluctant to pay, Kromivian services were too beneficial to neglect. In time, the Kromivians expanded their services to include Kanohi, weapon, and armor repair; and even allowed traders from other races to work commercially on their island.
The Kromivians have since abandoned the Great Spirit Robot after it was rendered uninhabitable.
Abilities and Traits[]
Kromivians are very talented mechanics, well-versed in ship and vehicle design. Kromivians are very protective of their trades and frequently work to master trades they aren’t well versed in. Some Kromivians, when encountering mechanical designs they haven’t come across previously, have been known to tell the owners that their property has been damaged beyond repair, even though it likely could be fixed given time. The Kromivians convince the owners to sell the property to them and when the owner leaves, they reverse engineer it, to study how it works.
