Krekka was a highly-accomplished Dark Hunter, known to have been partnered with Nidhiki.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Krekka originally resided on the island of Stelt, having been created by Mata Nui and based upon the genetic coding of several existing sapient species alongside the rest of his kind.
With the League of Six Kingdoms having recently disbanded, Krekka's early life saw a rise in prominence of the Steltian Black Market, with a criminal culture spawning a number of mercenaries. With Steltian Predator Rifles entering into circulation, the Rekridor species began to assert themselves in a new Steltian hierarchy, superimposing themselves at the top whilst subjugating all other species beneath them.
With no designated law enforcement on Stelt, the will of the Toa became disenfranchised with the will of the citizenry, prompting inhabitants of the island to descend into a lawlessness and in-fighting. During this time, Krekka notably came to serve one of the island's foremost clans as a sentry, often being posted at locations and tasked with dissuading trespassers from entering through intimidation.
At an unknown point in the history of the Matoran Universe, Makuta Gorast was known to have visited Stelt and been denied entry to a building by Krekka. This exchange would notably cost Krekka one of his eyes.
Dark Hunters[]
In the aftermath of the Toa/Dark Hunter War on Metru Nui, Krekka and his Steltian kinsmen would come to entertain complicated relationships with Mata Nui and the Toa charged with carrying out his will. While the Matoran heralded Toa as champions of justice and liberty, Krekka grew jealous of the affection these peace-keepers were afforded and sold his services to the Dark Hunters. Sensing tremendous loyalty and little in the way of independent thought in his new recruit, The Shadowed One enlisted Krekka's skills in his organization.
Upon his induction into the organization, Krekka came to be partnered with Toa Nidhiki, a renegade Toa Mangai, who had betrayed his team at a decisive moment in the Toa/Dark Hunter War and defected to the Dark Hunters. In the eyes of The Shadowed One, this was an especially amicable partnership, as Krekka could be most effective when under the instruction of Nidhiki, and, with his loyalty and mindless obedience, he in turn could keep Nidhiki in line and make sure he never deviated from the mission.
Six months later, Krekka was among the many Dark Hunters on Odina who witnessed Toa Nidhiki's transformation into his four-legged, insectoid-like form on the coast that would later be named Nidhiki Beach.
Metru Nui[]
1,001 years ago, The Shadowed One leased the services of Krekka, Nidhiki, and Eliminator to Makuta Teridax, who was enacting the first phase of his Grand Plan to seize control over the Great Spirit Robot but was finding himself continuously marred by the interference of Nidhiki's former Toa Team. Under the guise of the local Turaga, Teridax instructed Krekka and Nidhiki to isolate the Toa and recover the six Great Disks necessary to craft the Kanohi Vahi whilst "Eliminator" hunted the Toa Mangai and the Po-Matoran Chronicler, Kodan.
Using his unique Lightning capabilities, "Eliminator" was able to murder eight of the remaining Toa, damaging their neural circuitry to prevent them from being revived in the Red Star. With only Toa Lhikan remaining, "Eliminator" departed Metru Nui, leaving his fellow Dark Hunters to finish the job.
Tasked with retrieving the six Great Kanoka Disks and capturing Toa Lhikan, Nidhiki set about locating the six Matoran from each district who knew the locations of the various Disks. Eventually contacting a Po-Matoran named Ahkmou, Nidhiki was able to use the Matoran's rivalry with Onewa to convince him to help him obtain all of the Great Disks, promising that he would be well-paid and that the Dark Hunter would not disturb him any longer once he had completed the task. To help him in his mission, Nidhiki gave Ahkmou the names of the other five Matoran who knew where the Great Disks could be found, and Ahkmou sent a variety of false messages that led each of them into traps set up by Nidhiki and Krekka.
Having set in motion a means to acquire the Great Disks and with the Toa Mangai disappearing in rapid succession, however, Lhikan grew wise to the Dark Hunter plot and learnt that Nidhiki had once again returned to Metru Nui. Mistrustful of Turaga Dume, the Toa of Fire looked to the stars and saw the names of six Matoran written among them. Reviving the ancient practice of creating Toa Stones, Lhikan imbued his Toa Power within the stones then transported them to the six Matoran: Vakama, Nokama, Whenua, Onewa, Matau and Nuju, in the hopes that they could succeed where he and his fellow Toa Mangai had failed. Distributing the Toa Stones, however, Lhikan was ultimately captured by Nidhiki and Krekka in Ta-Metru, before being taken to the Prison of the Dark Hunters in Po-Metru.
Seeking to accelerate their plans, Nidhiki and Krekka applied more pressure on the Matoran, ravaging their workplaces and homes, only for the newly-appointed Toa Metru to gather each Matoran and retrieve the Kanoka Disks themselves.
Abilities and Traits[]
Widely-regarded as unintelligent, Krekka possessed a practical mind and unwavering loyalty to The Shadowed One. Owing to his tremendous strength, Krekka also had an especially boxy and muscular frame, though he was habitually clumsy. Under the direction of Nidhiki's keen tactical mind, Krekka was able to compliment his partner's strategies and focus his raw strength to successfully achieve his objectives.
Upon his indoctrination into the Dark Hunter organization, Krekka was issued with a sophisticated type of exomorphic armor designed to increase his natural endurance. This armor was equipped with noise-canceling technology and levitation capabilities. Owing to these alterations, Krekka was able to achieve flight.
Arsenal[]
For combat, Krekka was fitted with a shoulder-mounted Kanoka Disk Launcher, which fired successive rounds of high-ranged Weaken Kanoka, valued at 338.
Krekka also had an Energy Web Projector fitted into his Kanoka Launcher, enabling him to launch disruptive Energy-based mesh constructs at a target.
