Krakua was a De-Matoran and later Toa of Sonics, who notably served as a servant of the Order of Mata Nui.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Similarly to most other Toa of Sonics, Krakua began his life as a De-Matoran on Spherus Magna, where he aided in the construction of the Great Spirit Robot. Upon its completion, he was placed inside the Tren Krom Peninsula dome of the central Matoran Universe, which then departed Spherus Magna.
Some time after the successful launch of Mata Nui, Krakua was granted true sapience by the Great Being Velika in an event referred to as the Awakening. Although he continued his original tasks, Krakua was imbued with emotions and self-awareness, developing a keen strategic intellect among other idiosyncrasies.
For 99,950 years, Krakua resided in the isolation of De-Koro, a rural settlement of De-Matoran in the mountains of the Tren Krom Peninsula. As a result of his conditioning, however, Krakua grew to be something of an outcast amongst his people, often making excessive noise and whistling, much to the irritation of his scholarly neighbors.
Five years ago, the Brotherhood of Makuta intercepted intelligence, which suggested that Krakua had been chosen to become a Toa of Sonics with a unique destiny. Endeavoring to thwart this prophecy, Makuta Gorast dispatched Vultraz, the first Shadow Matoran and native of the island, to De-Koro, equipping him with a Sonic Disruptor capable of quelling the local De-Matoran. In retaliation, however, the Order of Mata Nui dispatched Jerbraz to the region, who was able to enlist the services of a local Ko-Matoran aide, named Mazeka, who proved instrumental in overpowering Vultraz and getting Krakua to safety.
Life as a Toa[]
Taken to Daxia and offered shelter and training, it is widely believed that the Order of Mata Nui played a significant role in transforming Krakua into a Toa. Given specific instruction in the use of his Elemental Powers, the young Toa of Sonics was paired with Johmak.
For the ensuing five years, Krakua would engage in a number of undercover assignments on behalf of the Order of Mata Nui, often accompanying Johmak on stakeouts and gathering intelligence on specific targets to facilitate the wider organization. During this time, Toa Helryx, leader of the Order of Mata Nui, endeavored to keep Krakua from assignments that directly contradicted the Toa Code, wishing to give Krakua the opportunity to follow the principles of the Great Spirit if he so wished.
At one point, Krakua was known to have encountered Toa Lesovikk. Aware that the Toa of Air sought revenge upon Karzahni, who had in turn journeyed into the Pit to pursue the Kanohi Ignika, Krakua informed Lesovikk of his adversary's location and showed him a means through which to access the Pit.

Shortly after completing this assignment, Krakua was commissioned to accompany Helryx and Brutaka to Metru Nui, where he was assigned to help inform Toa Takanuva of the developing situation in the Universe Core and the destiny of his fellow Toa, the Toa Nuva. Finding the Toa half-drained of his inner light by a Shadow Leech, however, Krakua and his cohorts were forced to stabilize Takanuva and place a Kratana on his Kanohi, which projected the Universe Core's history into his mind. Dispatched on his journey by Brutaka's broken Kanohi Olmak, Krakua would later lament not telling his fellow Toa the whole truth about his role, only for Helryx to dismiss his concerns.
After performing a number of additional tasks as a servant of the Order of Mata Nui, Krakua was swiftly promoted to a full-ranking operative within the organization, his promotion accelerated by the declaration of the Destiny War. Stationed in Metru Nui by Helryx in the absence of the local Toa Team, Krakua oversaw the construction of numerous fortifications around the island, in anticipation of the Brotherhood of Makuta's attempted Siege of Metru Nui. When the battle eventually came at the height of the Destiny War, Krakua was approached by Toa Hahli and instructed to use his unique Elemental Powers to send out a signal deep beneath the Archives to activate the Bohrok. While he was at first reluctant to unleash the creatures, Krakua eventually relented and summoned the Bohrok, providing a necessary edge to repel the invading Rahkshi armies and win the battle.
Krakua as a Toa
Reign of Shadows[]
After Makuta Teridax took control of the Matoran Universe and announced the success of his plan, Krakua was forced to find shelter from the Brotherhood of Makuta armies that razed the domes of the Great Spirit Robot.
Reluctantly accepting the downfall of Mata Nui, Krakua eventually emerged from hiding and joined the resistance forces. Coming to the attention of the Toa Nuva, the Toa of Sonics would later journey south of Metru Nui, where he united with the disgruntled masses to fend off the Rahkshi army amassing in the Southern Island Chain.
Once the Matoran Universe successfully landed on Bara Magna, Krakua and his Toa compatriots emerged onto the surface of the planet, where they allied with the Glatorian and Agori to fend off Makuta's Rahkshi, Skakdi, and Skrall forces. Fighting alongside his fellow Toa for the duration of the conflict, Krakua was relieved from battle with the Rahkshi with aid from Toa Tahu, who used the Golden Armor to vaporize the Rahkshi army. Mata Nui was then able to complete his mission of reforming Spherus Magna from Bara Magna, Bota Magna and Aqua Magna.
Spherus Magna[]
Following The Reformation, Mata Nui used his final vestiges of energy to revitalize the Spherus Magna ecosystem, enabling the planet to accommodate the denizens of both Bara Magna and the destroyed Matoran Universe.
Abilities and Traits[]
As a Matoran, Krakua possessed a minuscule amount of Elemental Sonics energy, which manifested itself through his acute hearing.
As a Toa of Sonics, Krakua was able to create, control and absorb sound. This allowed him to create sound waves or concentrated beams of sound, use sonic waves to disrupt a structure's integrity, and absorb all of the sound in an area to create a field of silence
As an operative of the Order of Mata Nui, Krakua also underwent intensive training to shield his mind from Telepathic influence.
Mask and Tools[]
Krakua was known to have originally worn a Great Suletu, the Mask of Telepathy, a Kanohi that empowered him to read the thoughts of a target, as well as simultaneously project their own thoughts into the mind of another target. Notably, this Kanohi was crafted in the shape of a Kanohi Hau presumably as a mark of his indoctrination into the Order of Mata Nui.
As a Toa, Krakua carried a Sonic Vibration Sword, a long-handled weapon capable of projecting concentrated bursts of his Elemental Power.
Trivia[]
- Krakua was originally designed by John Dexter and entered into an independent Toa Building Contest in 2005, the purpose of which was to design the Toa of Sonics depicted in Time Trap.
