Kongu was a Le-Matoran from Metru Nui, who became the Toa Inika and later Toa Mahri of Air.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

As Le-Matoran, Kongu began his life on Spherus Magna, where he aided in the construction of the Matoran Universe. He was later placed in Le-Metru with a small community of Matoran, where he found employment as a Chute Attendant at the Le-Metru transport hub, facilitating the arrivals of Airships, boats and Chutes transporting goods to the Archives.

With universal attitudes towards Toa growing increasingly contentious, the Dark Hunters made a number of attempts to seize a regional foothold in Metru Nui, which ultimately resulted in the organization declaring war on the local Toa Mangai by invading the northern-most island in the Matoran Universe. Arming himself with a Kanoka Disk Launcher, Kongu took shelter from the conflict alongside his Le-Matoran neighbors, staying out of the line of fire and evading the Dark Hunter anarchists.

With the remaining Toa Mangai disappearing in rapid succession, Toa Lhikan grew wise to the Dark Hunter plot and the intentional spread of the Morbuzakh. Mistrustful of Turaga Dume, the Toa of Fire looked to the stars and saw the names of six Matoran written among them. Reviving the ancient practice of creating Toa Stones, Lhikan imbued his Toa Power within the stones then transported them to the six Matoran: Vakama, Nokama, Onewa, Matau, Nuju, and Whenua, in the hopes that they could succeed where he and his fellow Toa Mangai had failed. Unaware that Makuta Teridax had abducted the Turaga and assumed his form, however, the Toa were branded as public enemies and the Makuta ordered the Vahki to detail them through his guise as Turaga Dume.

A matter of weeks later, notably after the Toa Metru had been branded fugitives of the law and the Matoran had turned on them, Kongu was summoned to the Coliseum by the Vahki, along with the rest of the population of Metru Nui. Once he arrived, Kongu was confronted by a squadron of Vahki and placed inside a Matoran Sphere, betrayed by his own creations. Entering into a comatose state, Kongu became dormant and was rendered unable to carry out his task of maintaining Le-Metru. With the entire population of the island similarly incapacitated, Makuta Teridax set in motion a chain of events that debilitated the Great Spirit Robot and transferred the seat of power to himself. During his time inside the sphere, his body reduced in size, and all his previous memories were erased. Kongu's size and physical strength were also reduced as a consequence of his Matoran Sphere.

Kongu was freed from the Matoran Sphere on Mata Nui, where he found he had diminished size and strength and had lost his memory. Despite this, he still aided in the construction of Le-Koro, using materials from the Airships used to rescue the Matoran.

Before the arrival of the Toa Mata, Kongu aided in the defense of Le-Koro and became Captain of the Gukko Force. During this time he also served as Turaga Matau's right hand.

Return to Metru Nui[]

Later, after the defeat of Teridax by Takanuva, Kongu aided in the construction of boats to return to Metru Nui when the island city was rediscovered. Landing in the city alongside the entire population of Mata Nui, Kongu helped repair Le-Metru and the rest of the island, acclimatizing to his role operating Chute systems with some difficulty.

Several days after their arrival, word reached the Matoran that the Toa Nuva had left the island on a dangerous mission in search of the Kanohi Ignika, the Mask of Life. Upon discovering this news, Jaller began a silent protest, entreating the island's entire Matoran population to lay down their tools until the Turaga revealed the nature of the mission. Mounting a rescue effort to follow the Toa to Voya Nui, Kongu joined Jaller, Hewkii, Nuparu, Hewkii, Matoro, and Takanuva on a mission to Voya Nui.

Abilities and Traits[]

Similarly to all other Le-Matoran, Kongu possessed a minuscule degree of control over the elemental discipline of Air, though he could not access Elemental Powers or utilize a Great Kanohi. Additionally, he possessed amazing speed and agility.

As a Toa of Air, Kongu could create, control, and absorb air. This also gave him the ability to control air pressure, create twisters, and summon wind storms.

Mask and Tools[]

While residing on Metru Nui, Kongu was known to have wielded a Kanoka Disk Launcher, which he notably left behind in Le-Metru. After settling in Le-Koro, he fashioned a Bamboo Disk to defend himself with. She would later come to carry a Kolhii Staff.

For the majority of his life, Kongu wore a powerless Ruru, the Mask of Night Vision. This Kanohi was notably surrendered to Karzahni during Kongu's passage to Voya Nui and was exchanged for a new powerless Kanohi.
