"It is as Vakama said. I practiced and became skilled. I now know the secret art of traveling great distances by moving very slowly. It is only a small matter for me to be wherever I am not. It is a useful skill."
―Kapura, Mata Nui Online Game

Kapura was Ta-Matoran from Metru Nui.

History[]

Early Life[]

As a Ta-Matoran, Kapura began his life on Spherus Magna, where he aided in the construction the Matoran Universe. He was placed in Ta-Metru with a small community of Matoran, endeavoring to carry out his purpose by ensuring the continued functionality of the Great Spirit Robot. While other Ta-Matoran gravitated towards a career in the Furnaces, Kapura found employment as a vat control attendant.

When the Morbuzakh ravaged the city, Kapura continued his duties transporting Molten Protodermis across the district. Searching for a Kanohi mask he had discarded, Nuhrii contacted Kapura, who suggested he searched the Protodermis Reclamation Yards. Nuhrii vanished shortly after this encounter.

Investigating his disappearance, Toa Vakama notably stopped a Morbuzakh vine on Kapura's vat system with a Freeze Kanoka. Consulting Kapura, he soon discovered that the vat of Molten Protodermis had been sabotaged and that Nuhrii was last seen searching for a Kanohi he had discarded.

Shortly before the Great Cataclysm, Kapura, along with all the other Matoran of Metru Nui, was instructed to convene on the Coliseum by Makuta Teridax, who had taken the guise of Turaga Dume. Once he arrived, Kapura was confronted by a squadron of Vahki and placed inside a Matoran Sphere. During his time inside the sphere, his body reduced in size, and all his previous memories were erased.

Mata Nui[]

After being awakened by the Toa Metru on Naho Bay, Kapura aided in the construction of Ta-Koro using Airship parts under Turaga Vakama's direction. With his memory erased and his body notably shrunken due to prolonged stasis, Kapura began a new profession as a member of the Ta-Koro Guard. Vakama would soon appoint Kapura as his left-hand aide.

Enjoying a year of peace, the progress of the Matoran was notably hindered by the arrival of Makuta Teridax on the island, however, who used Infected Kanohi to corrupt the island's Rahi population. Relentlessly hounded by Rahi attacks and earthquakes, Kapura came to situate himself in Ta-Koro, rarely traveling beyond the roads and paths etched into the volcanic landscape for fear of the Hikaki.

Kapura was among a number of Ta-Matoran villagers who witnessed the arrival of Toa Tahu in Ta-Koro. With the Toa Mata arriving on the island, the Rahi attacks increased in their frequency, prompting the Ta-Matoran to defend their village from threats such as Nui Jaga, Fikou, Kane-Ra and Hikaki with limited success.

Over the course of his quest, Toa Tahu became over-confident in his abilities and came to believe that his fellow Toa would simply hinder him on his quest to defeat the Makuta, coming into conflict with Kopaka in particular. Throwing a violent outburst in the village center after Turaga Vakama revealed that his destiny was irrevocably tied to the other Toa, Tahu stormed off intent on challenging Makuta himself. Encountering Kapura in the Charred Forest, the Toa of Fire voiced his grievances to the Matoran. Kapura listened and recounted an instance in which the Matoran banded together to overcome a swarm of Kirikori Nui.

When the Toa succeeded in their quest to collect their Golden Kanohi and descended into the Mangaia tunnels, Kapura was part of the Chronicler's Company to defend Kini Nui from the infected Rahi, until reinforcements from the Matoran villages arrived. In one final battle, the Matoran emerged victorious, finally freeing the Rahi from Makuta's mental influence and restoring balance to Mata Nui in the process.

Following the Bohrok Invasion and the defeat of the Bohrok Kal, Kapura was rebuilt into a form resembling the one he had held before being confined in a Matoran Sphere. Notably, Kapura's original Kanohi Pakari was damaged during this time and would later replaced by a powerless Ruru.

Return to Metru Nui[]

Later, after the defeat of Teridax by Takanuva, Kapura aided in the construction of boats to return to Metru Nui when the island city was rediscovered. Landing in the city alongside the entire population of Mata Nui, Kapura helped repair Ta-Metru and the rest of the island, acclimatizing to his new role with some difficulty.

Several days after his arrival, however, word reached the Matoran that the Toa Nuva had left the island on a dangerous mission for reasons unknown. Upon discovering this news, Jaller instigated a silent protest, entreating the island's entire Matoran population to lay down their tools until the Turaga revealed the nature of the mission. Kapura notably took part in this protest, refusing to work. Eventually, however, the protest ceased and Kapura returned to his duties.

Teridax's Reign[]

When Teridax took control of the Matoran Universe, Kapura hid in the Archives along with Toa Nuva, Takanuva, the Turaga of Metru Nui and many other Matoran, though he was eventually captured by a squadron of Rahkshi enforcing the will of Teridax and forced to swear her allegiance to the Makuta.

Abilities and Traits[]

Mask and Tools[]

While residing on Metru Nui, Kapura was known to wield a Kanoka Disk Launcher, which he notably left behind in Ta-Metru.

After settling in Ta-Koro, Kapura fashioned a Bamboo Disk to defend himself with. He would later come to carry a Kolhii Staff.

Trivia[]

  • Kapura's name was derived from the Māori word, which translated as fire. After the LEGO Group was accused of misappropriating words from various Polynesian languages for use in the BIONICLE line, many character names were updated in 2002. Kapura, however, did not have his name adjusted.
