The Kanohi Kadin was the Mask of Flight, a Kanohi that enabled its bearer to propel themselves through the air in a particular direction and at high velocity for extended periods of time. Unlike the Kanohi Miru, however, the Kadin does not permit its bearer to levitate in a fixed position, requiring the user to constantly be in motion. Moreover, the Kadin offers no resistance to the colder temperatures of high altitudes and can be nullified by gravimetric influence.

History

The Kadin traces its origins back to some of the earliest mask-making techniques adopted on Spherus Magna, where an unclear number of Kadin masks were created for the Matoran populace. At this point in the history of the Matoran Universe, the Mask of Flight became heavily associated with Le-Matoran, who held the mask up as a symbol of their adaptive and changeable elemental discipline.

Over the 100,000 year span of the Matoran Universe's functionality, the Kadin became a somewhat lesser-known Kanohi. In Metru Nui is could be crafted with relative ease using Teleport, Reconstitute at Random, and Shrink Kanoka disks, usually originating from Ga-Metru. Requiring specific Kanoka disks to manufacture, the Mask of Flight was a typically uncommon mask in Metru Nui, proving more difficult to forge than the Kanohi Miru. As such, only a handful of Mask Makers were capable of crafting it successfully. In particular, the Kadin came to be favored by Toa of Ice, who often resided in high-altitude, mountainous terrain.

Quite notably, a Fa-Matoran named Jovan was known to have sported a Kadin during his time as a Toa during the Great Disruption, leading his team to the Universe Core and successfully reviving the Great Spirit, marking a decisive footnote in the mask's history.

Awarded to him by Karzahni, Toa Nuparu would later liberate Voya Nui with the Toa Inika whilst bearing an organic Kanohi Kadin.
