History[]
Jovan was created as a Fa-Matoran by the Great Beings during the early years of the Matoran Universe.
While the island of his original residence after the Great Spirit Robot's completion remains unclear, it is known that he lived amongst a community of Matoran for the majority of his life. Jovan would eventually be chosen to become a Toa, being transformed under unknown circumstances.
At some point, Jovan encountered Toa Lesovikk during the latter's travels. Jovan taught the Toa of Air valuable fighting styles and ideas before allowing him to continue on his journey.
79,500 years later, at the height of the Matoran Civil War in Metru Nui, the ramifications of the Great Disruption came to reach the wider universe and Jovan would eventually be called upon to assemble a team of Toa in light of the crisis. Creating the Toa Voya, Jovan and his teammates were commissioned to restore the health of Mata Nui as a direct consequence of the Matoran Civil War, after roughly 400 years of continuous battle.
Facing numerous trials as they descended the 777 Steps, the Toa Voya learned to work together as a team, making gradual progression as a result. After enduring many dangerous challenges, the team finally arrived at the Chamber of Life.
After retrieving the Kanohi Ignika, the Toa brought the mask with them to Karda Nui, where one of Jovan's teammates, a Toa of Fire, volunteered to bear the mask in order to restore the Great Spirit's health. Initially unwilling, the Toa inevitably sacrificed his life energies to activate the Ignika. As the Energy Storms resumed, Jovan and his remaining teammates escaped using the Olmak, and returned the Ignika to the Chamber of Life.
Horrified by their experiences in the Universe Core, the Toa Voya decided to part ways and vowed to guard the secrets of the Ignika. While many of his surviving teammates chose to travel to distant islands, Jovan chose to remain on the Southern Continent in hopes of monitoring access to Voya Nui and the Chamber of Life. Not long after The Great Disruption had ended, Jovan sacrificed his Toa powers and became a Turaga.
Not long after becoming a Turaga, Jovan encountered Toa Bultros. after teaching the Toa the same fighting styles he had taught Lesovikk long ago, Jovan managed to rekindle the Toa of Fire's spirits after talking with him. Bultros then continued on his way, and thanked Jovan for his help.
Resources from the Matoran have confirmed that Jovan is indeed still alive.
Abilities and Traits[]
As a Toa of Magnetism, Jovan could create, control, and absorb magnetic energy. This allowed him a wide range of abilities, which included increasing or decreasing the magnetic field in an area, releasing beams of magnetic energy, as well as manipulating metal and other substances through magnetism. These powers were greatly reduced when he became a Turaga.
Jovan sees the value of knowledge in a warrior, believing it to be way more useful than physical weaponry.
