Ilidu was a Su-Matoran and later Toa of Plasma, who notably survived the Dark Times and Reign of Shadows.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Similarly to most other Toa of Plasma, Ilidu began his life as a Su-Matoran on Spherus Magna, where he aided in the construction of the Great Spirit Robot. Upon its completion, he was placed inside one of the domes of the Matoran Universe, which then departed Spherus Magna.

While the island of his original residence after the Great Spirit Robot's completion remains unclear, it is known that he lived amongst a community of Matoran for the majority of his life.

In the aftermath of the Toa/Dark Hunter War, Ilidu would eventually be chosen to became a Toa, transforming under unknown circumstances.

Life as a Toa[]

After his transformation, Ilidu would be partnered with Toa Agitra, a Toa of Lightning from his original village. Under the instruction of a local Turaga, he gained control over his Elemental Powers and sought to defend the Matoran of his home settlement.

During this time, Agitra and Ilidu briefly encountered Toa Sonitous, a traveling Toa of Sonics who visited their village. Although skeptical of the visiting Toa, they directed him towards a memorial grove, where he might find an old herbalist.

At the height of the Dark Times, however, the presence of both Ilidu and Agitra in a single village attracted unwanted attention. As a result, Dark Hunters frequently raided the area and captured Matoran in hopes of luring the Toa out and killing them. Forced to leave the village in order to bring peace to the Matoran, the pair began wandering the Southern Islands of the Matoran Universe, searching for opportunities to uphold the values of the Toa Code.

Reign of Shadows[]

After Makuta Teridax took control of the Matoran Universe and announced the success of his plan, Ilidu and Agitra were forced to find shelter from the Brotherhood of Makuta armies that razed the southern Matoran Universe, though later began fighting against the Teridax's forces, battling menaces such as Rahkshi, Exo-Toa, and Visorak.

Forced to accept the downfall of the Great Spirit, Ilidu went into hiding along with the rest of the Toa population. Joining the resistance forces, the Toa of Plasma would later journey south of Metru Nui, where he united with the disgruntled masses to fend off the Rahkshi army amassing in the Southern Island Chain.

Once the Matoran Universe successfully landed on Bara Magna, Ilidu and his Toa compatriots emerged onto the surface of the planet, where they allied with the Glatorian and Agori to fend off Makuta's Rahkshi, Skakdi, and Skrall forces. Fighting alongside his fellow Toa for the duration of the conflict, Ilidu was relieved from battle with the Rahkshi with aid from Toa Tahu, who used the Golden Armor to vaporize the Rahkshi army. Mata Nui was then able to complete his mission of reforming Spherus Magna from Bara Magna, Bota Magna and Aqua Magna.

Abilities and Traits[]

As a Matoran, Ilidu possessed a minuscule amount of Elemental Plasma energy, which he could manifest through means of weak heat resistance.

Upon his transformation into a Toa, Ilidu gained the ability to create, control, and absorb most forms of superheated, highly ionized gas, forming molten, gaseous constructs such as weapons or walls. Ilidu also possessed the ability to absorb heat into his body to lower the temperature in his immediate area. In its simplest form, these elemental capabilities also enabled him to fire blasts of heat with concussive force and were able to superheat the air around him at will. Given the lethal nature of his powers, however, Ilidu rarely resorted to using them in combat, preferring to wound or burn opponents as a warning.

Mask and Tools[]

Ilidu wore a Great Mask of Fusion, a mask that allowed him to fuse himself with another living target to create a new form through physical contact. While using the mask, Ilidu would maintain motor function over the amalgamated life form, though especially strong telepathic minds or intelligence amongst the subjects of the fusion could disrupt the process and even override cortical control. Ilidu also used the Kanohi to support unstable fusions and could merge with a maximum of six subjects for extended periods of time. Most often, he used the Mask of Fusion to merge with his teammate, Agitra, resulting in a titan form with limited command over both Plasma and Electricity and tremendous strength.

Ilidu wielded a Spiked Combat Staff, a Toa Tool that could be wielded offensively or used to channel his Elemental Powers.
