Idunn is a female Virakan who works closely with Makuta Sanguine. As a member of the Dark Hunters she is known by the name “Gentleman”.

Biography[]

Creation[]

Like most other members of her species, Idunn was created by the Great Beings in an attempt to create Toa-like beings who wielded emotional energy rather than elemental energy. After her creation, she was placed with the rest of her species on an island known as Viraxa in the Eastern region of the Matoran Universe.

Early Life[]

Idunn lived in relative peace among her fellow Virakan of Love. Though Idunn was largely satisfied with being a farmer in her village, she eventually decided to start training herself as an acrobat in her spare time after a performing troupe briefly visited Viraxa.

Etymology[]

“Idunn” is derived from the Old Norse words for “again” and “to love”, and is an Ancient Scandinavian name. In addition, it is both the name of the Norse goddess of eternal youth as well as the name of the final boss of the game Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade.

Trivia[]

  • The character of Idunn has gone through a few different iterations. She was originally planned to be a Kromivian and later a Toa, though no species was ever decided upon for certain until Virakan.
  • The moniker of “The Gentleman” was inspired by an episode of Andy Griffith which featured a character known as the Gentleman Bandit. Upon Chalk’s first viewing of the episode he was instantly inspired to create his own character based off that one. He has no idea why.
