The Idansflower was a defensive tool developed on Leskya Nui.
History[]
The history of the Idansflower is an ongoing mystery. It was first found in an ancient weapons manuscript found on Leskya Nui written by an anonymous author, which documented the tool's properties and contained instructions on how to create it. This is the oldest recording of the tool, and the only non-contemporary one. The “Idan” in its name may have been the name of its original creator but could have been derived from the Matoran word for "spirit", Iden. The ”flower” part of its name is believed to have been a reference to it vaguely resembling an unknown species of flowering plant.
Following the discovery of the manuscript, Matoran smiths willingly created Idansflowers for the two Toa of Magnetism on Vandir's Toa team defending Leskya Nui. Several more were made as spares. All Idansflowers were destroyed when Leskya Nui was destroyed by an Incendiary in a war against Antharahk. However, a surviving copy of the manuscript documenting it was later found on the Horizon Breaker and was left on Powai Nui. This manuscript was used to create another Idansflower, which was given to the Toa of Gravity Hatar when he had his armor upgraded after joining the Toa Powai.
Description[]
The Idansflower was round and pincer-like in appearance, usually composed of lightweight metal. It was worn on the outer side of the forearm of the user.
If the Idansflower was used by a Toa of an Element that could move distant objects, the tool would act as another vector of their power along with their Toa tool. The tool's power could be easily toggled on or off by the user. When on, the tool would utilize their Elemental abilities to attract any projectiles near the user to the tool, where it would redirect them back in the direction of their sender. Unless the tool was severely damaged or the projectile was in some way unable to be swayed by its user's Element (i.e. it could not use Magnetism to redirect a laser), this would work 100% of the time. While powerful and useful, the tool was unbiased in what projectiles it attracted, and would even attract projectiles shot from a weapon used by its own user.
Known Users[]
- Toa Hatar
- Two Toa of Magnetism on Leskya Nui (formerly; both deceased)

Trivia[]
- The Idansflower's abilities were inspired by the magnetic wristwatch, a device James Bond once used, which could supposedly protect the user by attracting bullets to itself.
- In Icelandic naming conventions, a person’s surname is their father’s name in a possessive form followed by “son” or “daughter” (for example, the surnames of the son and daughter of Stefán would be Stefánsson and Stefánsdottir). The name of the Idansflower, which resembles “Idan’s flower” with attributes mimicking these naming conventions, is a continuation of Leskya Nui taking inspiration from Nordic countries.
