Hyemeus is a Mersion Grand Scholar and former member of the first Council of Eight.

Biography[]

Native to the island of Versuva, Hyemeus was one of Versuva's greatest philosophers during the earliest days of the universe, and was one of the eight Mersions who were chosen to form a ruling body called the Council of Eight. As a member of the first council, Hyemeus was known for being cautious and conservative, who deeply considered all the implications of the Council's decisions.

Eventually, he came to retire and returned his focus to science and teaching others, eventually becoming one of Versuva's first Grand Scholars. However, Hyemeus began to live a simpler lifestyle in a state of semi-retirement. Taking up residence in the city of Keadrah, Hyemeus began conducting his own independent research to satisfy his own intellectual curiosity, employing a Matoran named Zevrai to act as his assistant.

At some point, he came across a young Mersion named Mersery, who he took under his wing as his student and prodigy for a short time. Hyemeus taught Mersery a wide range of things relating to science and philosophy, though recognized that his potential would be wasted if he merely provided him with enough education to make him a lab assistant or a teacher. Using his old connections, Hyemeus was able to recommend Mersery's enrolment into the Great Academy, the finest learning institution on Versuva. Aware he would need to fund his education, Mersery began working as a part-time assistant to Hyemeus alongside Zevrai.

When the Xevthian Empire conquered Versuva and made it their base of operations in the northern regions, Hyemeus was forced to join the work force and was brutally treated by the invaders as they used the Mersions to build them war machines and weaponry. When the Hand of Artakha defeated the Xevthians, Hyemeus was freed from slavery and proceeded to aid in the efforts to help his homeland recover from their occupation. After his people's society was restored, Hyemeus returned to his life as a teacher and scientist.
