The Huwnaui are a winged species from the far southern chains of the Matoran Universe, known for being both excellent spies and proud weaponsmiths.

History

The Huwnaui were created by the Great Spirit Mata Nui to inhabit his universe. Though they were imperfect to him, he chose not to eradicate them with natural disasters as he had other species, instead settling them in small pockets across the farthest southern islands. Though physically quite meek, most Huwnaui quickly established themselves within the forgotten south's tribal hierarchy, often acting as viziers, aides or spies for more powerful beings, like Wairakka.

One Huwnaui spy soon joined the Dark Hunters under the codename Vanisher.

Abilities and Traits

Aside from the ability to fly, Huwnaui can possess other elemental sub-powers, usually only of the primary elements.

The Huwnaui’s greatest strength comes from their weapon-making; while not as notable or industrious as the Vortixx, the Huwnaui will spend thousands of hours on a single teleportation staff, or strength-altering shield, taking great pride in their work.

Huwnaui will own several Kanohi, which they alternate between for different tasks. Kanohi Akaku, Kiril, Matatu, Nirehu, Pakari and Quouo are common choices for weaponsmiths, while Kanohi Artamu, Calix, Huna, Kualsi and Onweku are often used by spies. Kanohi masks are just tools in a Huwnaui's arsenal, and not attached to their identity.

Trivia

• Vanisher's spear does indeed carry his dimensional powers; it belonged to a Huwnaui elder that Vanisher once supplanted.
