Hapori Tohu was a being responsible for the creation of the world depicted in the MARVELOUS-Verse.
History[]
Little is known of Hapori Tohu's activities before descending into the formless world from the outer heavens. Upon his arrival into the world, using "the Life and bounty in his soul" he created a feast and a mate, Kardas, in an attempt to quell the rage and hunger of the beast Gah-Dun-Cah. Upon her destruction of his gifts and her attack on him, he felt despair, but made no move to fight against her until she bit off his arm. Fashioning a falchion of light, he battled Gah-Dun-Cah for many millennia, finally killing her with a blow to the head.
Hapori Tohu grieved the death of his adversary for an undisclosed amount of time, after which he sought to atone for his destruction of life. He created a replacement arm out of Gah-Dun-Cah's bones and divided her body into twelve pieces. Using her body and the remnants of the feast he had created, he transformed them into the twelve unique lands of the world, unknowingly corrupting the Life he gave them with the darkness still left in Gah-Dun-Cah's blood.
With each use of Life he applied to his creation, Hapori Tohu's soul grew weaker, and he was eventually brought to the brink of death. He felt despair again, for his desire to populate the world he had created would remain unfulfilled. He created three sons- Artakha, Karzahni, and Mata Nui- out of his own flesh and Kardas' bones, that they might fulfill his desire to create in his absence. He blessed them each with gifts, virtues from the outer heavens, and their task, and died soon after, his soul drained in his final act of creation.
In accordance with his final wishes, the three sons burned Hapori Tohu's body on a pyre and scattered his ashes over the lands he had created. Where his ashes landed there sprung up Hearts, Ore, and Elemental Stone, and the three sons would use these materials to create beings to populate the world.
Abilities and Traits[]
Hapori Tohu was consistently described as having "Life and bounty in his soul." This manifested in an enormous store of creation powers, and the ability to make his creations incredibly lavish. He also possessed minor Light powers. It is currently unknown if these powers are common to other beings from the outer heavens.
Hapori Tohu possessed a great love for all living things, and despaired whenever they stopped living. He desired to satisfy their needs with gifts and with the teachings of the outer heavens. However, he also possessed a certain amount of naivete, immediately believing that his gifts would satisfy Gah-Dun-Cah, refusing to answer her aggression with defense, and not knowing that the darkness in her blood tainted the world he created from her remains. Despite this, he was well-loved by his three sons, and by the beings of the world to whom his story and teachings were spread.
