Haarb is a Fire villager on the island of Okoto.
Biography[]
Haarb was a young denizen of the Fire Region. Born into a fairly average middle class family, Haarb knew little of the history of Okoto or its legends. All of this changed when he was brought on a class field trip to the Sanctuary of Mamuk, the home of the wise Glaruu, a sage known for her wise proverbs and deep understanding of the world. Quite taken by the prophetess, Haarb left the sanctuary with his class only to secretly return two nights later on his own. Glaruu, welcoming the company and tickled with the obvious interest the Fire villager showed in her work, took him under her wing.
She taught him much, allowing him to record her many proverbs and while he didn’t live there, he returned whenever his free time allowed, bearing food and supplies for Glaruu. This kindly relationship lasted for a few months, until Makuta’s hordes descended upon the island.
The invasion of the Skull Spiders forced his primary role as a tool smith to be called to the fore, and his visits to the Sanctuary of Mamuk grew few and far between. This coupled with the decrease in tourism to the Sanctuary allowed Glaruu more time to contemplate and inflect, but Haarb never lost his drive to learn from the Fire sage. Ultimately Ekimu’s return and the rebuilding of the City of the Mask Makers forced him to journey to the city to help rebuild. There his work as a recorder made its way to Ekimu and he was sent to record the Mask Maker’s visions and prophecies. However, competition for the high position resulted in his removal from the job and he secretly made his way back to the Fire Village. Upon his return, he immediately resumed his position, chronicling Glaruu’s sage words.
Abilities and Traits[]
Having learned so much from Glaruu, Haarb is very clever and smart. He has a great deal of proverbs memorized, and whenever Glaruu isn’t available, he frequently researches his own carvings (based on her inspiration) whenever in need of advice.
Haarb can be rather awkward when talking with anyone except Glaruu, and the prophetess's understanding of him helps him confide in her. However, he has no such luck with others, and doesn't naturally work well as a leader.
