Gorast is a Makuta, and a member of the Brotherhood of Makuta. After the Matoran Civil War, Gorast was assigned to oversee the Tren Krom Peninsula, where she would eventually build a permanent fortress to house her servants, her experiments, and other interests.
History[]
Like all Makuta, Gorast was tasked with creating new Rahi and controlling existing populations within the Matoran Universe in order to maintain a stable ecosystem throughout. She took to this less than her fellow Makuta, and found a niche for herself in controlling some of their more dangerous creations be sheer force. When Makuta Miserix assigned each Makuta to oversee a region of the Matoran Universe after the Matoran Civil War, Gorast eagerly chose the Tren Krom Peninsula, famously one of the most dangerous regions in the Universe.
At some point, Gorast claimed to have had a vision of a dark and terrifying future where Teridax, the leader of the Brotherhood of Makuta, conquered the entire universe and killed Mata Nui to take his place as the Great Spirit.
Eventually, Gorast recruited her own team of Toa Hagah, and began sending them on missions across the Peninsula and beyond. Most notably, she discovered a Ta-Matoran named Lune who was secretly an Av-Matoran hidden during the Time Slip. Using an artifact from the Brotherhood's base on Destral, she transformed Lune into a Toa of Light and told him it was his Destiny to defeat Teridax. She also happened to be the first individual Sauti met after he awoke in the mountains of the Tren Krom Peninsula and stumbled into her fortress with no memory of how he got there or who he was. After peering into Sauti's memories to confirm what he was saying, Gorast offered Sauti a place on her Toa Hagah team.
At some point after recruiting her Toa Hagah, Gorast worked with Vaxter to experiment on at least one Matoran to unknown ends. This specific experiment was later seen by Sauti when he used his Mask of Psychometry on Vaxter's Mask of Mutation.
Sometime after, Gorast travelled to Stelt to meet with Sidorak at the Coliseum of Kradit. Shortly after arriving at the Coliseum, someone fired a Cordak Rocket into the box in which the meeting was taking her place, and Gorast and her team quickly retreated from the island.
27 years after the Great Cataclysm, Gorast sent her Toa Hagah team to Voya Nui to retrieve the Kanohi Ignika. Of the team, only Lune had been informed of her vision and her intentions to use the Ignika to betray Teridax and the rest of the Brotherhood. The team never returned, as Sauti, the only survivor, chose not to return, having come to doubt Gorast's intentions.
Personality and Traits[]
Gorast radiates menace and power to all those around her. She maintains her authority through control over the flow of information, such as only telling her Toa Hagah some of the context for their missions. She claims to be working against Teridax for the good of the Matoran and the wider universe, but has also experimented on those same Matoran. Her true intentions are shrouded in many layers of secrecy and misdirection.
Powers and Equipment[]
As a Makuta, Gorast possesses the ability to control the element of Shadow, including the ability to produce Kraata. She also possesses powerful telepathy, and can wield all 42 Kraata powers to their fullest potential, although she can only use one at a time. Like all other Makuta, she evolved into pure gaseous Antidermis hundreds of years ago. Because of this, she no longer grows tired, is much harder to wound, and doesn't need to eat, sleep, breath. Her antidermis form is contained within a mighty suit of armor made from solid antidermis, though if this armor is cracked or her Kanohi is removed her essence will slowly leak out and she will eventually die.
Gorast wears a Kanohi Felnas, the Mask of Disruption. It allows her to cause ones of the abilities of a creature to go out of control with just a touch, potentially quite destructively.
